Valley for the suspect in two killings
has ended.

24 year old William Charles Morva
was arrested without incident yesterday
afternoon in a briar patch near the
Virginia Tech campus.
Morva is the inmate who escaped
Sunday after allegedly killing a
hospital security guard and wounding a
Montgomery County sheriff's deputy.
There was another shooting
yesterday morning, leading to the death
of Corporal Eric Sutphin.

asked them if they had seen William

Within a hour after the capture, life

prepared for Corporal Eric Sutphin on
his patrol car outside of the
Montgomery County Sherrif's Office.

This Morning Sutphin, who was shot and killed
on the Huckleberry trail in Blacksburg
yesterday morning, had had a close call
in a shooting three years ago.
A Christiansburg police officer
tried to stop a shop-lifter at a
convenience store just off the
Interstate.
Officer Scott Hylton was killed
and Eric Sutphin took down the shooter.
He was even grazed by two
bullets.
The Sheriff said yesterday that
Sutphin was one of the nicest people--
and described him as brave and a
natural hero.

security guard killed Sunday at
Montgomery Regional Hospital a hero.

McFarland.
McFarland worked at the hospital
for the last two years, first for a
private security firm and then for the
hospital itself.
McFarland leaves behind a wife
and two children.

Morva, the escaped prisoner now back in
police custody, had been in jail
accused of robbing the Glade Road Deli
Mart in Blacksburg.
Before those charges....he was a
well known fixture in downtown
Blacksburg.
He was often seen hanging out at
many of the local restaurants.
His friends in the area say
they're shocked about what unfolded
over the last two days.

GRAPHIC=Accident An accident in Pittsylvania
County last night killed two people and
injured two others.

Officials say around 10:00, a
vehicle traveling north in a southbound
lane of Route 29 collided head-on with
another vehicle.
The southbound driver,
49-year-old Kit Cody died at the scene.
The other driver was flown to Lynchburg
Hospital, and died at around 3:30 this
morning.
Police are not yet releasing
that driver's name.
Both vehicles contained a
passenger and both are currently listed
in critical condition.
Both Southbound lanes near White
Oak Mountain, just south of Chatham
were closed last night for about two
hours.
There is no word yet on if
alcohol was involved..

a controversial power station and line
near Smith Mountain Lake.
Last night Franklin County
supervisors delayed a vote on the
proposed Westlake Substation for 60
days.

what it will look like and where it
will be seen from.
An Appalachian Power spokesman
said last night the project, if
approved, could now be delayed until
the winter of 2008.
Appalachian Power says it needs
the new lines and equipment to meet the

to buy out nearly 90-units at Hannah
Court Mobile Home Park -- as part of
its flood reduction plan.
The city recently sent out a
notice to residents about how it will
try to help them relocate -- but
Stevens says there are still a lot of
unanswered questions.
