crash in Botetourt County yesterday
evening.

half mile south of exit 150.
16 year old Victoria Lynn
Phillips died at the scene. She was
wearing a seatbelt at the time of the
crash.
Police say she ran off the side
of the road, overcorrected, was T-Boned
by a pick-up truck, glanced off and
then hit another truck.
Phillips was a cheerleader at
Lord Botetourt High School.

lucky day yesterday, when the Virginia
Lottery handed over record- setting
earnings.

They'll get more than 454-
million dollars.
Lottery money accounts for ten-
percent of spending for K- through- 12
education.
For example, Roanoke City schools
will receive nearly two- million
dollars, Lynchburg City-- one- point-
two million.
Next year's checks, however, are
NOT expected to be as fat, since North
Carolina's new lottery is cutting into
sales along the Virginia border.
Governor Tim Kaine says the
decline was expected and education
officials are planning accordingly.

hospital.
But, many say even the toughest
security measures aren't always enough.
