It was the first day of school...

student Torie Phillips was killed in an
car accident on route 11.

through Cloverdale when she lost
control of her car, overcorrected and
then went into oncoming traffic.
The 16-year-old was pronounced
dead at the scene.
Torie would have been a junior
this year.
She was a former cheerleader,
straight-A student and involved in
countless clubs.
Yesterday, a crisis team and
extra guidance counselors were brought
in to help students, facility and staff
cope.

They say the man serving a life
sentence in a murder-for-hire scheme
apparently committed suicide.
