The decision is a partial victory

At a meeting in Prague, leading
astronomers approved new guidelines
that downsize the solar system from
nine planets to eight.
The International Astronomical
Union stripped Pluto of the status it's
held since it was discovered in 19- 30.
But Pluto's size and orbit had hurt
its planetary status for years.
Today's action also provides a new
definition of what is -- and what isn't
-- a planet.
