GRAPHIC=Plane Crash It's being called the worst

So, with an experienced crew at

(END SOT) The burnt wreckage of Comair flight
51-91 reveals more than just how just
one man survived and 49 others perished
(Sot: Gary Ginn/Fayette County Coroner

"the cause of death will be fire
related deaths rather than smoke
inhalation."
To investigators the plane's location -
just west of Lexington's Blue Grass
Airport - was one of their first clues
as to why the jet crashed.
CBS News has learned - air traffic
controllers cleared the flight to take
off on runway 2-2... a LIGHTED seven
thousand foot strip. Moments later -
the pilots of flight 51-91 turned ONTO
the wrong runway... then roared off the
end of the much shorter and un-lit
airstrip..
As the stories of the people on this
doomed plane begin to emerge, among the
most touching is THAT of a newlywed
couple who never had a chance.
Drew Levinson / CBS News / Lexington
Kentucky
On Saturday night Jon and Scarlett
Hooker said their vows before three
hundred people...the next morning they
died in a fiery crash.
The flight's sole survivor and it's
first officer James Polehinke was
pulled from the burning wreckage by two
rescue workers. He is being treated at
the University of Kentucky Hospital.
sot: Dr. Andrew Bernard / University Of
Kentucky Hospital
he is critically ill - in respect for
Mr. Polehinke's privacy and of his
famly - they have asked that I not make
further comments on the details of his
condition.
Sunday, the National Transportation
Safety Board said preliminary
information gathered from the flight's
data and voice recorder also indicated
Comair's pilots used the wrong runway.
(18:28:29 SOT: Debbie Hersmann //
National Transportation Safety Board
member)
We do have some indications there were
some references to runway 22 - what I
am telling you is that with the data
and evidence that we have is that this
aircraft took off from 2-6.
Investigators say they plan to be on
scene for about a week as they gather
more clues. But exactly why the pilot
seemingly took the wrong turn may never
be known. Drew Levinson, CBS News,

(END SOT) The shooting of Corporal Eric Sutphin
and the resulting lockdown at Virginia

Christiansburg:
I appreciate that you didn't pass on
speculation about the hostage situation
until you knew to report that it was
false. As the wife of a police officer
that's currently on the scene, I wanted
to thank you most of all for showing
emotion when speaking of the death of
Corporal Sutphin. I appreciate the
feeling you have toward the law
enforcement officers there and it means
a great deal when the death in the line
of duty is reported in a personal way.
James Martin felt the murder of
Montgomery Regional Hospital security
officer Derrick McFarland was put on
the back burner:
I am also appalled at the almost
complete lack of sympathy being shown
for Mr. McFarland, the hospital
security guard that was killed. He was
unarmed but came to the aid of the
Deputy escorting Mr. Morva for
treatment and I think he is possibly
due more credit for his actions than
Mr. Sutphin....
News Seven's coverage of the services
for both men drew praise Thursday.
Matt Harris wrote:
I think your coverage on the funeral
for Corporal Sutphin was excellent and
I want to commend you for respecting
the family's wishes. I thought just
showing what was going on with only the
sounds of the surroundings was perfect
and I just wanted to commend your
station on a fine job.
And we got this email from Chris
Connor:
I wanted to thank you for your coverage
over the air and on the web of the
Derrick McFarland and Eric Sutphin
Memorial Services. I am from
Christiansburg and went to school with
Eric, but I needed to leave room for
his comrades and community to celebrate

participate without getting in the way.
I wanted to learn more about Derrick
McFarland and his life and your web

The Virginia Cavaliers open the
season Saturday night on the road in
Pittsburgh. Coaches like to talk about
the importance of Senior Leadership.
For the Wahoos, they will start a
Senior at both Quarterback and
Tailback.

The only problem is that at the
Q-B Position it will be the first
career start for Chris Olsen after
sitting and waiting his turn.
Also making a new start of sorts
is Jason Snelling who has been through
some health issues while in
Charlottesville as well as spending the
majority of his career at the Fullback
Position. The 2006 season is the last
chance for both to shine.

Cowboys Training Camp Owens has yet to take the
:00 field for the Cowboys, but he has
reportedly already collected a first
fine from his new team. T-O was docked
$9,500 for missing both a team meeting
and a rehabilitation session and
arriving late to an offensive meeting
on Friday.
And Bryan Randall was among
the Falcons cuts today. The former
Hokie was competing with Georgia
product DJ Shockley for the number 3
quarterback job behind Mike Vick and
Matt Schaub. In 2 preseason games,
Randall was 7 of 12 for 105 yards and a
TD, with one pick and 29 rushing yards.

Tiger had his trouble as well,
coming up an inch short on the par putt

Cink found the greenside bunker
when the rains came, while Tiger buried
his putt for birdie and the win--his
