at New Fitness at Crossroads in
Roanoke---

only to find a notice on the door that

said the gym is closed effective
immediately- and it says all New
Fitness locations are closed.

Many members today said they were
suprised and disappointed by the
closing.... others said they had heard
the gym was having financial troubles.

It was May that the Cave Spring
Corners New Fitness for ladies closed--
and New Fitness filed for Chapter 11
bankruptcy protection. In a release
this morning owner Karen Carpenter says
they are working to transfer
memberships to gyms within five miles.

We'll have more on this story

Investigators are combing the wreckage
of ComAir flight 51-91 looking

for answers. The big question how did

the pilot of the commuter jet use

the wrong runway?

The data and evidence we have is this
aircraft took off from runway 2-6.

Runway 2-6 is a secondary strip half
the length of the 7,000 foot main

runway at Lexington's Blue Grass
Airport. 49 people died when the

plane.. Which did not have enough time
to lift off.. crashed through a

security fence, bursting into flames.

"The tail is in one section and there
are pieces of a wing in another

area, the majority of the fuselage is
in a separate area."

The sole survivor James Polhinke was
pulled from the wreckage by a

police officer. Polhinke is in
critical condition but his account of

what happened should help

investigators. The flight data
recorders have

also been recovered.

Levinson Bridge:lexington, kentucky

Investigators are focusing on
conversations between the pilot and the

control tower.they will also be looking
to see if the airport runways

were properly marked with signs and
lights.

Comair says right now its top priority
is the victims' families...like

that of Kentucky college baseball
player Jon Hooker and his wife

Scarlett. They were heading on their
honeymoon.

This is the first major airline tragedy
since 2001...it was one the

safest periods in U.S. aviation

from the Evington Volunteer Fire
Department.

41-year-old Carol Deann McCune has
been charged with 13 counts of grand
larceny for allegedly abusing her
position as an officer with the
department.

yesterday at a wrestling match, when a
water tank they were sitting on
collapsed.

Eyewitnesses say more than 200
people had climbed atop the tank to
watch the match at the village fair,
when the decades- old structure gave
way.

Officials said at least 30 others
standing nearby were injured as it came
crashing down.

Friday night left one man dead.

It happened at around 9:00 near
Grassy Creek, close to the North
Carolina border.

23-year-old Joshua Bryson
Sizemore was traveling east on Route
725 when his vehicle ran off the road,
hit an embankment, and overturned.

Sizemore died at the scene. A
passenger was transported to the
hospital. There is no word on their
condition or if alcohol was involved.

man in connection with a shooting.

It happened around one o'clock
yesterday morning in the parking lot of
the American Legion Hall.

Officers say a 31-year-old man
suffered gunshots wounds to his arm,
leg and chest.

He was transferred to Duke for
further treatment.

No word on his condition.

Police have charged 25-year-old
Ricky Jerome Myers of Chatham with
malicious wounding.

He's being held in the city jail

under no bond.

Police say the hall was being
rented for a family reunion when the

Saturday raised a lot of money for the
memorial fund for two officers who lost
their lives in the line of duty last
week.

Sheriff's Office quickly put together
the event to help his family and the

McFarland.

The car wash was free, but members of

In a release today, a spokesman for
the Sheriff's Department said he wanted
to thank the community for its support.

with Georgia product D-J Shockley for
the number 3 quarterback job behind
