(END SOT) The surf is up in Miami Beach after
Ernesto's visit....but that's just
about the only visible sign a tropical
storm rolled through South Florida.
"We were all prepared and it didn't
happen, that's a relief."
Ernesto did make its presence felt when
it came ashore in the Keys. There was
driving rain and wind gusts up to 50
miles per hour, but for the most part,
just about everyone and everything
remained intact.
Gwen Belton/Miami Beach: Now the focus
shifts from here in South Florida to
the Carolinas. With the busy Labor Day
weekend approaching, Ernesto is headed
that way and could regain strength
after it moves over the Atlantic Ocean.
In North Carolina, the national guard
and the state emergency response team
have been activated in anticipation of
flooding.
Storm preparations are also underway in
south carolina.. residents there being
told to pay close attention.
Gov. Mark Sanford/R-South Carolina: I
did want to very much to encourage
people to pay particular heed to local
evacuation orders that might come at
the municipal level."
It all really boils down to this....on
the heels of last year's Katrina
disaster....no one is ready to take any
chances with any storm. The Sunshine
state escaped this time and everyone is
hoping that's the same case in the
Carolinas.

ESPN2 Who were led by a pretty good
N-B-A player in his own right, Dirk
Nowitzki.
Dirk, not a good night, had just
15 points thanks in large part to the
U.S. Defense and some foul trouble.
The Americans didn't put on their
best performance leading by just 1 at
halftime. They pulled away in the 3rd
quarter out-scoring the Germans by 14.
Once again the U.S. was led in
scoring by Carmelo Anthony
*CG final Germany who tallied 19 points in the 85 to 65
65 win. United States will play Greece in
United States the Semi-finals on Friday. Argentina
85 and Spain play for the other spot in
the Finals.

to try out for the World Championship
team due to a bad back. That problem
seems to have been resolved. Now Word

resolved.

VO-NAT Court Records in North Carolina
show that J.J. will plead guilty to
Drunk Driving Charges and unlawful use
of highways.
Redick was arrested back on June
13th after making an illegal U-Turn and
officers determined that he had been
drinking.
Redick scheduled to be back in
court on October 24th, but the guilty
plea would most likely do away with the
appearance. That same night Redick and
his Orlando Magic Teammates will be
playing in a N-B-A Pre-season game
against the Miami Heat.
