pulled the trigger.

pushed back yet again.

giving a lethal dose of morphine to his
model and girlfriend, Marion Franklin.

Shell's defense attorney, Gil
Davis has informed the judge he will be
hospitalized for about 14 weeks for a
medical condition.

Davis asked for another
postponement, but the judge refused.

A two week jury trial is
scheduled to start September 18th.

Course say they want to know more about
the latest plan for the property.

And they continue to argue that
the city of Roanoke should maintain the
site as a municipal golf course.

proposal from a prospective developer.

Just one plan was submitted
before Thursday's deadline.

The city hopes to expand its tax
base with a mix of residential and
commercial development there, but
neighbors remain skeptical.

city staff say their review of the
Countryside plan may take a couple of
weeks.

Ernesto has left the area this
morning, but he left some damage around
the mid-Atlantic as it moved through
the last few days.

VO NAT There is some wind damage in
Ocean City, Maryland, where wind gusts
blew roofs off buildings and bricks off
the walls of at least one building.

The Coastal Highway was closed
much of the Friday because of a utility
pole that was in danger of collapsing.

Ocean City's Beach Patrol was on
the watch all day for people who might
still think it's a good idea to get in
the water. They were concerned with the
riptide.

VO NAT While the remnants of Ernesto
continue to pull away this morning,
they're still cleaning up in the
Carolinas.

Up to 12 inches of rain fell in
eastern portions of North Carolina and
there were also reports of downed
trees, flooded streets, and power
outages.

Several residents were rescued
from a mobile home park in southeastern
North Carolina as high water rushed in.
Firefighters rescued at least 10 people
from a-half dozen homes.

At least one traffic fatality has

been blamed on the storm in Nash County
(NC), and the Governor cautioned
residents to remain alert while
traveling to beaches for the Labor Day
weekend.

14 people were shot to death yesterday
when robbers ambushed their minivan.

The victims were identified as
pilgrims from India and Pakistan. They

were headed to Shiite holy city of
Karbalah.

bombs went off almost at the same time.

pep rally hosted by the city of Roanoke
at the Hotel Roanoke.

It was a chance for fans to
celebrate the kick off to the 2006
football season.

And they did it in style.

Head Coach Frank Beamer and the
entire football team were on hand along
with the Hokie bird mascot, the
Virginia Tech cheerleaders, and the
Highty Tighties.

anti-depressants after the birth of her
first daughter.

During an appearance on "The
Tonight Show with Jay Leno" last

night, Shields said that Cruise came
over to her house

Thursday and delivered what she called
"a heartfelt apology."

Last year, Cruise said that
depression can be treated with

exercise and vitamins rather than
drugs.

He mentioned Shields by name.

She fired back, calling his
remarks a "ridiculous rant" and

odds after being impaled by a piece of
metal.

Friday The piece of metal, which was the
size of a drinking straw, whipped out
of a lawn mower shute and pierced the
18-year-old boy.

The metal went through his

stomach, pierced a main artery, went
through his pancreas and pushed out the
skin on his back by two inches.

This weekend, he will remain
sedated with a breathing tube thrust
down his throat.

The teen was standing some 30
feet away from the lawnmower at the
time.
