man charged with raping a handicapped
woman is over.

Officials found 38-year-old Jimmy
Belcher at his family's home in Patrick
Springs at around 1:30 this morning.

He was arrested without incident
on one count of rape.

The sheriff says there will be
more charges as the investigation
continues.

Patrick County officials were
searching for Belcher last night.

The sheriff says the woman
Belcher is charged with raping is back
home with her family.

yesterday after a pick up truck crashed
on Interstate 81.

It happened yesterday afternoon
in Botetourt County, near the Buchanan
exit.

Police say a pickup truck pulling
a camper was traveling northbound.

It then crossed the median and
ended up in the southbound lanes.

The camper also broke away from
the truck, causing two other cars to
collide.

No word if any charges will be
filed.

The opening of the maze coincides
with the 2nd annual Chinquapin
(CHINK-uh-pin) Festival that celebrates
the arts and crafts and agricultural
heritage of Meadows of Dan.

The festival continues through
Labor Day.

The corn maze will be open on
weekends in September, and Wednesday
through Sunday during October.

Ernesto is the latest tropical
system to affect our capital city of
Richmond. Yesterday crews continued

cleaning up, and the governor came out.

VO NAT Governor Tim Kaine got a
firsthand look at the flooding in
Richmond's Northside neighborhood
yesterday caused by tropical depression
Ernesto.

More than 250 Richmond residents
were forced to flee their homes.

Noting his own residence's
proximity to the area damaged by
flooding, Kaine says a big question
that must be addressed is why a
neighborhood that didn't flood before,
is now having problems after the rains
that accompanied Ernesto.

VO NAT Hurricane John ripped the roofs
from shacks, knocked out power and sent
billboards flying in the southern Baja
California peninsula yesterday.

John made landfall Friday night
as a Category 2 hurricane with top
sustained winds of 110 miles per hour.

While hotels in Cabo San Lucas
mopped up small puddles of water in
their marble-floored lobbies, the
poorer residents surveyed the damage to

their fragile shacks.

servicemen.

It's the worst loss of life for
the NATO-led security force since it
took on the mission of taming
insurgents in Afghanistan's volatile
south a month ago.

A spokesman for the ousted

Taliban movement claimed guerrillas
shot the plane down.

But Britain's defense secretary
says the loss appeared to be "a
terrible accident."

The alliance said the plane's
crew had reported a technical problem.

working to find an inmate accused of
shooting two state troopers in upstate
New York.

Police say Ralph "Bucky" Phillips
is a desperate man who will not
surrender.

Authorities are running DNA tests
on items from a log cabin near where
the officers were shot trying to
confirm Phillips is their man.

for aiding an escaped fugitive.

The two troopers shot are in
critical condition.

A reward for Phillips' stands at
more than 200-thousand dollars.

an escape in Montgomery County left two
men dead, and a community in shock.

from custody while inside the
Montgomery Regional Hospital.

Police say during that escape,
security officer Derrick McFarland was
shot and killed.

As the manhunt continued into the

while patrolling the Huckleberry Trail.

Morva was caught and taken into

custody.

Yesterday morning, the class of
2010 began its journey at Washington
and Lee University.

This freshman class includes
students from over 40 states and 11
foreign countries.

W and L has an undergraduate
population of nearly 18-hundred.

The school also has a new
president, alumnus Kenneth Ruscio will
officially be sworn in as the school's
leader later this fall.

Classes will begin next Thursday.

This building could soon house a new
health center for Craig County
Residents. They've been with out a
full-time doctor for more than a year
now.

It's the lack of health care
services here that prompted a group of
citizens to form the Craig County Rural
Health Care Corporation.

And opening a health center is top on
their agenda.

at the Roanoke Civic Center around
12-o'clock for the Ronald McDonald
House toy run.

Each rider paid ten-dollars, or
brought a ten dollar toy in order to
participate.

All the money donated will
support the local Ronald McDonald
house.

Last year organizers raised about
25-hundred dollars, all of which was
donated to the Ronald McDonald house in

Louisiana that was devastated by
Hurricane Katrina.

They hope to raise just as much
money this year.

All of the proceeds will stay
local.
