GRAPHIC=INTERNET SPAM One of the world's most

prolific spammers has been bounced
again.

Today, the Virginia appeals court
upheld the nation's first felony
conviction of illegal spamming.

Jeremy Jaynes, of Raleigh, North
Carolina was considered among the top
ten spammers in the world at the time
of his arrest.

Authorities say he grossed
750-thousand dollars a month by using
the Internet to peddle pornography and
sham products and services.

The appeals court ruled unanimously
today that Virginia has a "legitimate
public interest" in policing
unsolicited e-mail and that the state
anti-spamming law's impact on
interstate commerce is "clearly not
excessive."

Under Virginia law, sending
unsolicited bulk e-mail is not a crime

unless the sender masks his identity.
