two missing boys in North Carolina.

trying to identify the victim of a
fatal train accident.

Officers say it happened around
7:30 yesterday morning between the Mill
Lane and Industrial Drive crossings.
A man was struck and killed.
Police are still trying to figure out
who he is.
He's described as a white man
between 40 and 50 years old, 5 feet 10
and 220 pounds. He has blond-gray hair
and blue eyes.
He was wearing a light blue work
shirt with a sewn-on name badge of
"Jeremiah," blue jeans and white tennis
shoes.
Norfolk-Southern says the man
was trespassing, walking along the
tracks when the west-bound train came
by.

appeal today from a popular Smith
Mountain Lake restaurant.

May Virginia's A-B-C board charged Mango's
Bar and Grill with 10 alcohol
violations earlier this year.
The restaurant could pay a 25-thousand
dollar fine, have its license suspended
for up to 30 days, or file an appeal in
hopes of overturning the order.
Mango's chose to appeal, one that will
be heard today.
A-B-C officials say a final order will
come at some future time.

issue of allowing men at the Lynchburg
school.

arguing a break with tradition is a bad
idea.
They are asking for more time to
evaluate the proposal, and offer

The board will take up the issue
in a private meeting Saturday morning.

seen gas prices rise...one could say
gas prices are actually lowering.

VO-NAT Triple-A reports the Roanoke
Region's average price is $2-46 a
gallon.
That's down 42 cents from one
month ago, and 62 cents lower than last
year at this time.

the lowest in Virginia.
While the lower numbers may sound
like welcome relief, keep in mind the
spike a year-ago was the result of
Hurricane Katrina's damage to Gulf
Coast refineries.
Prices fell almost a full dollar
within a few months.

Conservation Association.

may not be a done deal, just yet.

June Hooker furniture's Roanoke
plant ceased production at the end of
August but according to a filing with
the Securities and Exchange Commission
Hooker has found a buyer for the
facility.
A spokeswoman would not
reveal the name of the buyer, because
the deal isn't complete.
An announcement could come within a
couple of months.
Last June, Hooker announced
it would close the plant and lay off
about 275 employees.
The plant now has just a
skeleton crew.

college have a new way to get around.

Officers are now riding chariots
at Virginia Western.
The vehicles are similar to
segways, but they have three wheels.
The chariots can even be driven
into buildings, and up and down
elevators.
Officers say they make it easier
to get around.
They also say the chariots are
helping to build better relationships
with the students.
Virginia Western is the first in
Virginia to use the personal transport
vehicles.
