today in Roanoke, and police are trying
to figure out what happened.

Officers respond to the
16-hundred block of Queen Ann Drive
around five this evening.

They found the fifteen year old
with a gunshot wound.

He was taken to Roanoke Memorial
Hospital, he is alive...but there is no
word on the extent of his injuries.

No arrests have been made, and
police are still trying to determine
what happened, and where it happened.

state troopers.

two missing brothers in North Carolina.

Wednesday Authorities believe they have

located the bodies of 3-year-old Jacob
and 4-year-old Jeffrey White Junior.

They were found about 100 yards
apart in the Dan River early this
afternoon.

People had been extensively
searching that area since Tuesday, when
the boys went missing.

Their grandfather says the boys
ran away after pushing out a screen
window, and that he couldn't catch
them.

Around 200 people helped with the
search.

The board will decide tomorrow
morning whether or not to admit men.

School administrators say the
change will increase enrollment and
create more financial security.

But many students and alumnae
(alumnee) say the change goes against
tradition.

If the board makes the change,
men could begin class by next fall.

An announcement about the board's
decision will be made sometime tomorrow
morning.

If that vote is in favor of
becoming co-ed, the school will most
like change its name later this fall.

since a popular Lord Botetourt High
School student died in a car crash.

Although she may be gone her

friends are working to make sure she is
never forgotten.

Last Month It's for 16 year old Torie Phillips
who was killed in a car accident on
Route 11 August 22nd.

Police say Phillips was driving
through Cloverdale when she lost
control of her car, overcorrected, and
then went into oncoming traffic.

Torie died the day before classes
were set to begin at Lord Botetourt
High School.

As you might imagine, this tragedy
has been tough on her classmates
especially the cheerleading squad where

Torie was a member for two years.

In fact, that following Friday at a
football game, the LB cheerleaders
released balloons in honor of Torie.

American Red Cross has some explaining
to do.....

has fined the Red Cross 4.2 million
dollars for what it calls

non-compliance with blood safety laws.
Among the alleged violations... failing
to ask appropriate donor screening
questions... and failure to follow
manufacturer test protocols.

The F-D-A says the breach of
the safeguards do *NOT* necessarily
mean the blood products caused "serious
health consequences."

The American Red Cross has not
commented on the fines.

throwing paint cans off the roof of a
New York City hotel may soon be
settled.

Squires Student Center was punched in
the back of the head.

Another at Bogen's Restaurant was

The fiberglass statues are part

It's a fundraiser that's trying
to draw attention to the arts.

Police say this is the eleventh
incident involving the Hokie birds.

The Blacksburg Partnership is
offering a one- thousand dollar reward
for information leading to an arrest.

problem clowning around in front of the
camera.

Meet Terry and Tom.

The two cubs were born on May
25th, and are the first ones born at
the Los Angeles Zoo in 22 years.

Snow Leopards are an endangered
species, with an estimated 5 to
7-thousand remaining in the wild.

rules of political engagement today in
Roanoke.

James Hunter Pickels was accused
of trespassing at a Jim Webb appearance
last April in Roanoke.

Pickels was working as a tracker
for the George Allen campaign.

Pickels claims the event was
public and that he did in fact leave
when asked.

Dave 'mudcat' Saunders owns the
building where Webb appeared and says
Pickels was asked repeatedly to leave
before he finally did.

The judge today decided there
were too many discrepancies from both
sides' recollection of the events, and
after taking the case under advisement
she would likely drop the charges.

DIED IN THE SEPT 11th ATTACKS. HE WAS
SITTING IN THE SAME OFFICE WHERE HIS
KIDS USED TO COME IN FOR VISITS. HE WAS
BRITISH. A BIG SOCCER FAN. THE KIND OF
DAD WHO COACHED HIS SONS' TEAMS. he was
well respected and after he did die
they named an award after him and you
have to show a love for the sport a
love for the kids, a love for the game
that he had and he was a very funny
person... AFTER SEPT 11, 150 SUMMER
CAMPS OFFERed FREE CAMP sessions TO
HUNDREDS OF CHILDREN LIKE ALEX. It
shows me how a lot of people could
support me and help me through it. And,
how it's like, it's not like just your
family in particular. ON VISITING DAY
THIS SUMMER, THE CAMP WAS FLOODED WITH
MOMS AND DADS. ALEX HAD NEITHER. HIS
MOTHER RUTH IS VERY ILL. HIS BROTHER
JAMES CAME TO VISIT. it's important
that he goes out and enjoys himself he
has a great time for the 2 months over
the summer and he's dealing w/ it the
best he can and i think getting away
for a couple months is what he needs.

Alex's mother Ruth passed away
just after camp ended for the season.

So now he has only his brother.

He will return next year as a
