Good evening everybody and
welcome to yet another night of Friday

Tonight marks week three of the
season for some, and for others it
marks the first time they have played
on a Friday night.

In the next half hour we'll run
through 14 games for you from Buena

.

GRAPHIC=CAVE/NORTHSIDE We get started just a short drive

proud in the early going, Kyle Rucker

Northside into scoring position. And a
nice crowd of Viking fans was on hand
to cheer their squad and they had
something to more to scream at soon
after.

The Very next play Rucker trying
to score but he would cough up the
ball, but it's better to be lucky than
good sometimes, Viking lineman Lional

highlight, falls on the ball for the
touchdown and Northside leads 7 to
nothing.

Cave Spring Defense would
stiffen, watch Ryan Martin who just
bears down on the Viking's quarterback
and sacks him for a big loss, Knights

evening.

The Cave Offense would get on
track in the second quarter. Daniel
Dowling takes advantage of 1 on 1
coverage on the outside, Shaun
Ferguson hauls in the catch and he will
score from 66 yards out were all tied
up.
*CG ffefinal Cave Spring Knights scored once by air, and 14 then added another by land. Dowling Northside taking it around the right side on the 7 option, he keeps it, pretty good

handoff and sweep to his left. The
Hidden Valley transfer will break about
a half a dozen tacklers and go 52 yards
to the house. Moses' touchdown ties
the game at 7-all.

Brunswick would be on the brink
of retaking the lead, but from the one
the Vikings fumble into the endzone and
Charles Blevins recovers for the
Catholic for the touchback.

The Celtics would then drive 80
yards as Dan Williams and Logan Amos
connect on a 19 yard touchdown.

Roanoke Catholic opens the 2006 season
with a 20-to-6 win over Brunswick.

RUNS=2:10 (END SOT)

OQ=Friday Football Extra < (END SOT) School career at Salem ended with a win

in the State Title Game.

Keith Gaines stepped in to the
shoes left behind by Shawver and
actually did him one better by going
undefeated on the way to leading the
Spartans to a second straight State
Championship.

That is what Mark Hanabury had to
follow when he stepped into the
position of Starting Quarterback at
Salem when they faced Lord Botetourt in
the Spartans opening game.

(HANABURY BITE:)

Settle down he did as he was part
of all 4 Salem Touchdowns. The first
score came on a beautiful throw to the
corner of the endzone, someething that
Hanabury can appreciate more than most
having played Defensive Back and a
little wide Receiver last season.

(HANABURY BITE:)

(MAGS BITE:)

Hanabury's final 2 scores came
with his legs, one on a 62 yard run
where he went un-touched to the
endzone. The Dual threat has been a
weapon for the Spartans in recent
years.

(MAGS BITE:)

(HANABURY BITE:)

(STANDUP:)

Hanabury carries a 4 point oh
grade point average and earned a
passing grade in his first test under
the fire of an opponent.

But it wasn't without studying
for the exam. Hanabury hit the
practice field at Salem everyday this
summer for throwing sessions with his
back-up Nick Leftwich.

(MAGS BITE:)

If all goes as planned for Salem
this season the lineage for the
Spartans will be Shawver, Gaines,
Hanabury. In Salem Grant Kittelson
Friday Football Extra.
