that's the charm.

VO-NAT NASA will make a fifth attempt
later this morning to get the space
shuttle Atlantis off the launch pad.
Fueling began early this morning,
ahead of the planned launch at 11:15.
It will be another few weeks
before NASA can send the shuttle to the
international space station if today's
mission is a no go.
Another capsule is scheduled to
fly to the space station on September
18th and it would be too crowded.
NASA stopped Friday's launch due
to a faulty fuel tank sensor.

government aid for damage from Tropical
Depression Ernesto.
He has sent a letter to President
Bush asking for federal disaster
declarations for 25 localities.
In the letter, Kaine says
Virginia incurred an estimated 104
million dollars in damage from the
storms that began August 29th.
Kaine has asked Bush to help
cover the costs of cleanup, repair and
recovery.

That was what a judge had to
decide yesterday in Roanoke.

of trespassing at a Jim Webb appearance
last April in Roanoke.
Pickels was working as a tracker
for the George Allen campaign.
Pickels claims the event was
public and that he left when asked.
Dave 'Mudcat' Saunders owns the
building and says Pickels had to be
asked repeatedly to leave.
The judge said she will likely
drop the charges.

Signs that the season is about to
change showed up in a not-so-subtle way
yesterday in the mountains of Colorado.

VO NAT Near Loveland Pass, Colorado,
cold air and a good supply of moisture
made for the perfect conditions for
snow. The first snowfall of the season
caught many people off guard as autumn
is still two weeks away! But, in
Colorado, snow and cold weather can
show up at any time around this time of
year.
Most areas of the high country
that got snow only saw a dusting and
much of it didn't stick to the
roadways.
Cold air, rain and snow are
forecast for the mountains of Colorado
today, but better weather is on the way

morning after being trapped in a
burning Siberian gold mine for two
days.

remains unknown in the accident that
killed at least 16 people.
Footage shown on Russian state
television showed three miners walking
out of the mine elevator.
Five other miners were later
found at a depth of over one thousand
feet and brought up by rescuers.
There were 63 miners working when
a fire broke out on Thursday.
Within hours, 31 miners made it
to the surface.

in Lebanon this morning.

Lebanon to help monitor the cease fire
between Israel and Hezbollah guerillas.
France is temporally leading the
peace keeping mission and already has
250 troops in the country.

number of troops is expected to reach
15-thousand.

in Southeast Roanke yesterday evening.

this house on Queen Anne Drive shortly
after five o'clock.
He was taken to Roanoke Memorial,
but we have no word on his condition.
It's unclear where he was when he

fugitives is finally in custody.

night in Pennsylvania.
He is suspected of fatally shooting
a New York state trooper and wounding
two others.
Phillips is due in court today in
Buffalo, New York.
The search for Phillips is one of New
York's biggest man hunts ever. He had
been on the lam since April.

of two young Stokes County brothers
missing for several days.

afternoon when three year old Jacob
White and four year old Jeffrey White
Junior were found in the Dan River.
They were about five miles
downstream from their home.
The boy's grandfather says they
pushed out a screen window from the
house and he couldn't keep up when he
chased them.
As many as 200 hundred volunteers
helped with the search.

It's a fundraiser that's trying
to draw attention to the arts.
Police say this is the eleventh
incident involving the Hokie birds.
