and trucks.
The initial call was for an
explosion ... but fire authorities
still aren't sure what happened.

At least three people did end up
going to Lynchburg General Hospital to
be checked out as a precaution.
Authorities say the fire started in
an industrial oven that is used to bake
on adhesives in the finishing process
... but that 'no' chemicals were
involved.
Fire marshals are still on the
scene trying to determine what
happened.
About 110 hourly and salaried
employees were sent home for the day
while company officials assess the
damage, but others will be able to
return to their jobs today.

attorney for another mental evaluation.
The defense attorney said Startz
was taking a prescribed antidepressant
drug and then stopped taking it on his
own before the alleged murder.

from jail was changed this week.

sheriff's deputy and hospital guard.
The dates of the conspiracy

searching for a bank robber this
afternoon.

Someone robbed the B-B &T bank on
Peppers Ferry Road near the New River
Valley Mall around 9:15 in the morning.
According to police radio
traffic, the suspect was wearing a
maroon- hooded sweatshirt with gray
pants.
He was carrying a pistol and a
black and orange cooler, or lunch
container.
The robber got away in a white
four- door sedan with front end damage.

a shooting last night that left a young
woman injured.

It happened in the 12-hundred block
of 11th Street a little after ten p-m.
Neighbors reported hearing anywhere
from six to ten gunshots.
Officers responded to find the
woman, 20-year-old Dashonna Latrice
Farmer, lying in a grassy area just off
the road.
She was suffering from an apparent
gunshot wound to the face.
She was later airlifted to the
U-V-A Medical Center where she is
listed in stable condition.

flooding problems today in the Windy
City.

viaduct during the height of the storm.
As much as four inches of rain fell
on the south side overnight-- just too
much for many roads to handle.
The Illinois Department of
Transportation was having to pump water

for incumbent Senator Hillary
Rodham Clinton. In what could be a
tuneup for a presidential run in
2008.. She crushed a hard-line, antiwar
candidate and is now a virtual
shoe-in to be re-elected.

the war hasn't hurt her....many
analysts..including CBS's Bob
Schieffer... see the Iraq war as the
issue
that will decide many close
congressional races this fall.

But most GOP candidates will likely
focus on national security and the

with a murder earlier this summer have
been indicted by a Radford grand jury.

Kelly Lance on the night 39-year-old
Ken Henry was shot and killed.

According to search warrants, she

Jones shot Henry to rob him of money
and drugs.
Jones was indicted yesterday on

cocaine to Burks on January 7th ...
Burks died of an overdose three days

laying low.

accused of crimes in Wythe, Smyth,
Grayson and Carroll Counties.

Wilson says it's been nearly six weeks
since the last incident in which they
suspected Goad.
Investigators say he lives in the
woods with his 16-year-old girlfriend,
and travels from county to county
robbing seasonal homes, cabins and
campers.
Police have held massive
manhunts.
And although they say they've come
close, he is still on the run.

are having a hard time keeping up with
their hardware.

VO-NAT They lost another bolt today.
It was similar to one that popped off
yesterday.
Astronaut Steve MacLean told Mission
Control that one of the four bolts he
needed disappeared.
Space debris can be dangerous if it
punctures space station walls or
spacesuits, and can jam crucial
mechanisms.
The assumption is that the bolt
floated away.
The astronauts can complete the task
with just three bolts.

Redskins lost their opening game of the
season Monday night to the Minnesota
Vikings.
And they also lost one of their
key defenders and a former Virginia
Tech Hokie.

was hurt on the opening kickoff of the
game, will be lost for the entire
season.
The defensive back- who was also a
big part of the Redskins special teams-
suffered a knee ligament injury, when

Prioleau (PRAY-LOW) will have
surgery on the knee within the next
couple of weeks.
