are cracking down on speeders on
Interstate 81 once again.

Operation Air, Land and Speed began
yesterday.
State Police will use roving
patrols, radar and aircraft to catch
speeders today.
Two similar operations
earlier this summer on interstates 81

the state attorney general has issued a
legal opinion on the marriage
amendment.

Bob McDonnell says the amendment-
which defines marriage as a union
between one man and one woman- would
not have any unintended consequences
for unmarried Virginians.
But Opponents aren't convinced.
Governor Tim Kaine supports
protecting traditional marriage, but
believes the amendment is too confusing
and WOULD affect the way unmarried
people are recognized in the state.

about its lease with the YMCA in
Blacksburg.

Wednesday In a story on News-7 this week,
Y-leaders said they're upset they have
to pay nearly 30-thousand dollars to
break their lease with the store at the
Gables Shopping Center.
Kroger officials say when a
tenant leaves a space early, the tenant
is obligated to pay up ... and add the
company's already going out of its way
to help.
Kroger has adjusted the Y's
payment from nearly 57-thousand dollars
to 30-thousand dollars.

But before the complex is torn
down, the Roanoke Fire-EMS department
is taking advantage of a training
opportunity.

The smoke that was rolling from
doors and windows yesterday was
artificial, the fire... a simulation.
Firefighters were practicing
their search and rescue skills,
locating occupants of a burning
building, when smoke reduces visibility
to just inches.
The Fire Department wants
neighbors to know it's a training
exercise, so they won't be alarmed by
the activity.
Firefighters will continue
training at the apartment complex
through the end of the month.

months ago from a burning
Christiansburg apartment, along with
her baby, is back in the news-- for a
very different reason.

Food Mart in Salem at gunpoint, and
that she was pushing a carriage with
her baby inside at the time.

things...and waited about 20 minutes
for everyone to leave.
When she went to pay....she pulled

your risk for pancreatic cancer.
