crash in Pittsylvania County - the
National Transportation Safety Board

has released an initial report on the
crash.

Nash were killed September 4th when

The moments before the crash
reveal the disorientation and weather
conditions faced by pilot Randy Nash.

According to the report,
instrument conditions existed and a

flight plan was *NOT* filed for the
trip.

< Labor Day weekend in Roanoke visiting
with family and friends.

Just before 11:30 that Monday morning
the couple left on their way to
Florence, South Carolina- but they
would never make it.

According to the report, Nash requested
a radar vector. When the controller
asked about the request - the pilot
responded - "We're kinda lost in some
fog here."

The controller then asked Nash to state
his heading, he replied, "I can't tell,
I think we're upside-down."

After that- the controller instructed
Nash to turn right. That got the

plane going in a northeasterly
direction, but at about 11:32 -Nash
stated, "We can't see, we can't see, we
can't see..." Moments later he said
something the controller couldn't
understand and radar contact was lost
soon thereafter...>>

According to investigators-
examination of the wreckage and severed
pieces "were consistent with overload."

anything but routine in the Hillsville
area.

State Police had to close down Route 58
about a mile east of town after a
tractor-trailer flipped over.

A detour was set up on Springwillow
Road until the roadway could be
re-opened.

There's no word on when the road will
re-open.

Drivers should use caution in that
area.

blamed for the weekend carbon monoxide
leak at a Roanoke College fraternity
house.

morning at the U- S Capitol, where a
man crashed his S -U- V into a
barricade.

Construction workers say the man drove
the the barricade, where a major
visitors' center is under construction.

Police say the man, who was armed,
then ran inside the building, where
they arrested him.

Capitol Police put the complex under
lockdown for about an hour while they

The work week kicked off with a
lockdown at the Capitol after a man

crashed his SUV through a security
barricade.

Police say the suspect ran past guards
into the building before he was

caught at a visitors center still under
construction.

It appears no lawmakers were in the
building at the time.. and no one

was hurt.

Bridge/Sirgany/Washington, DC

the security breach triggered a massive
room by room sweep of the

Capitol complex...forcing dozens of
staffers to remain either in their

offices or out on the streets.

The Capitol was re-opened about an hour
after the incident� But still a

puzzle for police.. Exactly what
motivated the suspect.

Officers searched his Silver Trail
Blazer for clues, but so far they

haven't revealed what it contained.

The Capitol has seen its share of
security incidents. In 19-98 two

guards were shot and killed by a man

with a history of mental illness.

And since the 9-11 attacks...the
complex has been evacuated and locked

down on numerous ocassions.

And while today's breach was controlled
before anyone was hurt...it's

likely to prompt yet another review of
security at the U-S Capitol and

other key Washington buildings.

Patricia Kennedy Lawford for her
"unconditional love and support."

weekend in New York.

According to a statement issued by
the family she died of complications

from pneumonia.

She was married to actor Peter
Lawford, and family member describe

"irreplaceable."

of the season at the Sylvania 300
yesterday in New Hampshire, beating out
Chase contenders Kyle Busch and Jimmy
Johnson.

and squeezing in between Denny Hamlin
and Jeff Burton for the lead.

It was a rough start to the
playoffs for Jimmy Johnson, who got
forced into the wall by Greg Bifle and
Sterling Marlin.

Johnson wound up 39th and is 9th in
the points.

Harvick was dominant, leading 196
of the 300 laps.

He held off spoiler Tony Stewart to
take the win

. Jeff Gordon was third at the line,
as Martin Truex, Jr. crashed coming to
the finish, after a nudge from behind.

Harvick leads the points for the first
time.
