GRAPHIC=Bush President Bush is set to defend

America's policy and plans for the

But his audience will be a

ammunition for skeptics.

(FILE: September 2005)

When President Bush takes center stage
at the UN General Assembly

meeting.. hell lay out a vision for
Middle East democracy.. thats part

of his so-called freedom agenda.

BUSH 12:16:02 we believe that liberty
is universal in its applications.

We also believe strongly that as the
world becomes more free, we'll see

peace.

Hell urge UN member nations to stand
up for that peace by supporting

moderates over extremists.. and hell
take aim at Syria and Iran.. two

nations he says are working to
undermine freedom in the region.

Mr. Bush will try to rally opposition
to Irans nuclear ambitions.. and

shore up support for sanctions.. after
Tehran missed the UN deadline to

stop uranium enrichment. Iranian
president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad makes his

case before the assembly later in the
day.

President Bush faces plenty of skeptics
in this venue.. particularly

because of the ongoing violence in
Iraq.

(Kofi Annan, UN Secretary General)

19:46:59 if current patterns// persist
much longer, there is a grave

danger that the Iraqi state will break
down, possibly in the midst of a

full-scale civil war.

The Iraqi president and Mr. Bush get a
chance to sit down together

today.. any progress on the issues
facing world leaders gathered at the

U-N is more likely to happen during
these sideline meetings.. not the

big speeches.

CLOSE: Mr. Bushs first meeting today
his with French President Jacques

Chirac.. whos trying to get Iran to
stop uranium enrichment without

imposing UN sanctions. Susan Roberts,

(END SOT) More states are reporting people

getting sick from eating spinach.

(vo)

At least 21 states now say they have
E-coli cases linked to tainted spinach.

The FDA is still trying to track the
exact source of the outbreak.. but does
not believe there has been any
tampering with the food.

The agency continues to warn consumers
not to eat any fresh spinach.

(wipevo)

A new set of studies is once again
showing the importance of a getting
enough sleep.

Whether it s from a sleep disorder or a
busy schedule.. researchers found a
consistent lack of sleep can increase
the risk of becoming overweight.

It may affect the immune systems
ability to fight off disease.

And in certain diabetics.. a lack of
sleep can raise blood sugar levels.

(wipevo)

Another new study is suggesting that

tiny metallic bits of pollution may
account for some lung cancers.

The bits are released from vehicle
exhaust and other sources.

After analyzing Texas residents,
researchers found an association
between various types of lung cancer
and releases of zinc, chromium and
copper.

Experts say the results do not provide
a direct link and more study is needed
to confirm the finding.

stories.

At least 21 states now say they have

The FDA is still trying to track the

not believe there has been any
tampering with the food.

The agency continues to warn consumers
not to eat any fresh spinach.

(wipevo)

A new set of studies is once again
showing the importance of a getting
enough sleep.

Whether it s from a sleep disorder or a
busy schedule.. researchers found a
consistent lack of sleep can increase
the risk of becoming overweight.

It may affect the immune systems
ability to fight off disease.

And in certain diabetics.. a lack of
sleep can raise blood sugar levels.

(wipevo)

Another new study is suggesting that
tiny metallic bits of pollution may
account for some lung cancers.

The bits are released from vehicle
exhaust and other sources.

After analyzing Texas residents,
researchers found an association
between various types of lung cancer
and releases of zinc, chromium and

copper.

Experts say the results do not provide
a direct link and more study is needed
to confirm the finding.

nations he says are working to
undermine freedom in the region.

Mr. Bush will try to rally opposition
to Irans nuclear ambitions.. and

shore up support for sanctions.. after
Tehran missed the UN deadline to

stop uranium enrichment. Iranian

President Bush faces plenty of skeptics

these sideline meetings.. not the

big speeches.
