(END SOT) Deborah Palmer used to be in charge of


an agency that helps hundreds of senior
citizens in the New River Valley each
year.

Now's she's accused of stealing
thousands from them in just 7 months.

According to court documents Palmer
stole thousands of dollars a month
between January and July.

But this is not the first time she's
been accused of stealing.

In 2003 she was convicted of grand
larceny, a felony... in Henrico County.
A judge gave her a year in prison, but
suspended the entire sentence.

A year later she served jail time for
misdemeanor petit larceny in Roanoke
City.

According to court records she was

caught shoplifting at the Valley View
Walmart. She spent four days in jail
and was banned for life from the Valley
View store.

RACHEL STANDUP

Palmer is now charged with
7-counts of obtaining money by false
pretenses.

She is out of jail on 5-thousand
dollars bond.

Her first court date is next
month.

Tina King is now the acting
director at the NRV Agency on Aging.

the same level as the Lynchburg Fire
Department.

In July, a peer review team
examined all aspects of the fire
department, from training to equipment
to personnel.

The team made a few suggestions,

53 year old Deborah Hughes Palmer
is accused of embezzling nearly
25-thousand dollars from the New River
Agency on Aging in Pulaski.

But this isn't the first time
Palmer's been accused of stealing.

felony grand larceny in Henrico
(hen-rye-co) County for shoplifting.


A judge gave her a year in
prison, but suspended the entire
sentence.

A year later she was found guilty

spent 4-days in jail for shoplifting at
the Valley View Walmart.
