meningitis caused the death of a
University of Virginia student on
September 9th.
The Centers for Disease Control
say the strain of the bacteria that
killed 21-year-old Jennifer Leigh Wells
was the only variation not covered by
vaccines.
Nearly 95 percent of the U-V-A
student body is vaccinated against the
disease.
But there are five strains of
meningococcal disease, and current
vaccines protect against only four of
them.
No other suspected cases have
been reported since Wells' death.

third baby to die-victims of what
Methodist Hospital is calling a tragic
case of "human error."-

Methodist CEO Sam Odle says 6 of his
tiniest patients were accidentally
given adult doses of the anti-clotting
drug Heparin, doses a THOUSAND times
stronger than they should have gotten.

THERE WAS A WEAKNESS IN THE SYSTEM, IT
WASN'T BAD PEOPLE, A WEAKNESS IN THE

look nearly identical except for a
slightly darker blue label on the
stronger dose. New rules at Methodist
call for the adult form to be stored in
syringes, that won't be mistakenly be
taken to the children's floors.
But any change in hospital policy comes
too late for DaRon Miller's daughter

the overdose remain in this neonatal
intensive care unit and appear to be
improving.

Officials here say they can only hope
other hospitals learn from their
tragedy. They have offered the families
counseling and compensation, neither of
which means much to the Millers.--who
will soon be burying a baby sister they
thought they'd be bringing home.

It took just 60 shows for Madonna's
"Confessions Tour" to set a record as
the highest- grossing tour ever by a
female artist-- grossing an amazing
193- point-seven million- dollars.
What's more impressive is that the
old record, Cher's "Farewell Tour,"
took three years and 273 concerts to
take in 192- point- five million.
But Madonna's "Confessions Tour"
could have easily been named the
"Controversy Tour".
A mock on- stage crucifixion drew
fire from Christian leaders, and German
prosecutors considered filing charges
against the singer.
