GRAPHIC=HOLD A man was hit and killed by a
train this evening in Lynchburg.
It happened around 6:45 at the
Norfolk Southern railroad tracks near
the 1800 block of 12th street.
Officers found the body of a
white male near the train tracks.
Police are not releasing the
victim's identity while the case is
under investigation.

their custody this morning.

Police were called to the
800-block of Greenfield Drive around
three o'clock after security officers
spotted a woman WANTED on two
outstanding warrants.
When officers tried to arrest the
woman, they say Clearance Lightfoot
Beard Junior assaulted an officer.
Police say they used pepper spray
and physical force to get him in
handcuffs.
As he was taken outside, police
say Beard suddenly stopped breathing
and collapsed.
He was pronounced dead at
Lynchburg General Hospital.

arrest in a drive-by shooting on
Mountain Avenue.
It happened in the 600 block
around 3:40 yesterday morning.
30 year old Michael Wayne Ward
was riding in a car when someone opened
fire.
19 year old Michael Vaden Thomas
is in jail tonight charged with
malicious wounding and use of a firearm
in the commission of a felony.

three children in an Illinois murder
investigation.

Earlier this week police found
23-year-old Jimella Tunstall dead, and
her unborn baby cut from her womb...her
three children were missing.
Yesterday, Police arrested
Tunstall's baby-sitter, 24-year-old
Tiffany Hall for the murders.
Hall then confessed to killing
the children and lead police to a
housing project.
There the three bodies were found
in a washer and dryer.
The deaths of nearly an entire
family have shocked a community and
relatives.

today at Dover. South Boston native
Jeff Burton said back in February at
Daytona that he expected to be a
championship contender and today took a
major step in that direction with his
18th career victory.

TNT Chaser Kasey Kahne watched his day

Stewart at lap 11. Kahne wound up
finishing 38th.
The points leader coming in,
Kevin Harvick, isn't the leader anymore
after blowing up in the late stages of
the race. He came home 32nd.
His teammate, Burton got the
lead from Matt Kenseth with 6 to go,
and Kenseth ran out of gas with two
laps left as Burton pulled away for the
victory. It's his first checkered flag
in 175 races spanning more than 5
years. He also grabs the points lead.
