Before there was Jack Nickalus, there
was Byron Nelson who was the greatest
golfer of his time and had what maybe
the greatest year in golf ever. He
passed away today at the age of 94
ENG#=3 VO-NAT
VO-NAT Nelson won an astonishing 18
tournaments in one season including an
amazing 11 in a row in 1945. He was
clearly at his prime but decided to
retire a year later at the age of 34 to
spend more time at his Ranch in Texas
which tells you what kinda of money
they were playing for back then,
especially compared to today.
Nelson won 5 Major Championships
over his career including 2 Masters.
