a classroom when the man walked

in, fired a gun and began telling some
students to leave.

The gunman released four of the girls
one by one.. when he cut off

negotiations and set a 4 o�clock
deadline.. the sheriff sent in the SWAT

the suspect shot at entering swat
officers, then one of the two female

hostages, and then shot himself

16-year old Emily Keyes.. a member of
the volleyball and debate teams..

BRIDGE: Baily is a tight-knit
community.. just 35 miles outside
Denver..

because of the Columbine tragedy the
school had a response plan and had

run a drill with teachers just last
month.

Unlike Columbine.. the shooter in this
case was an adult.. with a beard

and dressed in a hooded sweatshirt.
Authorities say they�re in the early

stages of their investigation and are
not releasing his identity or

discussing a motive.

waiting to be reunited with their

children.. school is cancelled for the
rest of the week.. with

counselors in early this morning to

help yet another community deal with

charges yesterday.

He's now facing 8 counts of rape
and 8 counts of gross sexual
imposition.

Utin was a math and science
teacher in Blacksburg for 35 years.

He also managed the Shawnee Swim
club and was a Sunday school teacher.

Investigators say Utin confessed
to molesting a 12-year-old girl when
she was between the ages of 5 and 9

years old.

is under indictment.

As we first reported Tuesday,
O'Toole allegedly failed to report
three felonies confided to her while
she was Dean of Student Affairs at
Notre Dame College last year.

Hollins stands by her... pointing
out that O'Toole told her boss about
the incidents.

While it may not a carry criminal
offense in Virginia .. the Hollins
Student Handbook says: "If a student
reports an alleged sexual assault to a
university employee, other than the
chaplain and counselors..., the
employee is required to report the

incident to Campus Safety."

Last night an Ohio prosecutor
spoke out about a former Blacksburg
teacher, accused of molesting a girl
when she was between the ages of
5-and-9.

math and science at Blacksburg Middle
school for 35 years.

The native of Oxford, England was
also a Sunday school teacher, a manager
of a town swim club and a kicker on the
Virginia Tech football team for 3

molesting the Ohio girl, and many other
children in Virginia.

murdering two women.

19 year old Jeremy Carter entered the
plea yesterday afternoon in Roanoke
Circuit Court.

He'd been charged with two counts
each of murder and attempted robbery.

Prosecutors say Carter had a hand in
the murders of Deborah Pearl Vaughn and
Brenda Marie Wright in an apartment at
Tinker Creek Manor Apartments last
February.

The Commonwealth's Attorney has
promised to ask for a sentence of no
more than 33 years in exchange for
Carter's testimony against the two
other defendants in the case.

in an animal cruelty case will have to
waiting until Monday to find out if
she'll get out of jail.

since last week when she was arrested
after deputies *CG locator Botetourt Co. reportedly found two-cats and two-dead
puppies at her property on Ridgecrest
Drive.

Yesterday morning- a bond hearing
was to determine if she would be
released.

Instead the judge said he would
not make a decision until Yates'
psychiatric evaluation was returned.

The 39-year-old was initially
busted in August when officers found
25-dogs, most of them puppies, crammed
into crates at another one of her homes
on Buckingham Circle.
