deadly school shooting that's left this
entire community in shock.
SUPER: PHOTO FROM:PARK COUNTY SHERIFF'S
DEPT.
Authorites have now identified the
suspect as 54 year old Duane
Morrison of denver.. Who they say was
living out of his car.
Sot: Fred Wegener/Park County Sheriff
"at this point motive still a mystery."
Police were forced to storm platt
canyon high school after morrison
made threats and a deadline he set had
expired.
During the rescue attempt.. The shooter
opened fire.. Killing a 16 year
old student before turning the gun on
himself.
Police say they found items of a sexual
nature in his backpack.
Sheriff sot
He did traumatize and assault our
children.. That's why I made the
decision I did to try to safe our
children
(Miller bridge/BAILEY, COLORADO)
More than 400 students were in the
school when the gunman entered....and
while all but one made it out...many
are now dealing with the most
terrifying ordeal of their lives.
sot: Cassidy Grigg/Witness
"He came in the room with a gun and he
shot the gun at the ground.
(edit, cover with video) In a situation
like that you really don't have
time to think. I just kind of wish
nothing would have happened."
The gunman let all the boys leave the
classroom.. And kept six girls
hostage.
Four were eventually released one by
one.. But he held 2 until the end.
Sheriff sot
" reminder of colombine.. tramautized
our small community.."
School has been cancelled for the rest
of week as people here come to
grips with what happened. One parent
says he moved his family to this
tiny mountain town because it was quiet
and peaceful. ..but sadly a
gunman has changed that.
