they've caught a Grayson County man
wanted for months.

taken to the New River Valley jail
without incident early this morning.

Officials say they found Goad on
the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Piper's
Gap area after Goad contacted the
sheriff's office himself.

VO-NAT Goad's 16-year-old girlfriend was

taken into custody on Wednesday night.

police say he brought a gun to Patrick
Henry High School.

Roanoke police were alerted by a
student yesterday that a 14-year-old
may be coming to school with a gun.

According to investigators, the
teenager walked into Patrick Henry
around 11 o'clock yesterday morning.

He was immediately arrested by
school resource officers at the
attendance office.

Police say they then searched the
student and found he was carrying a
handgun.

In a letter sent home to parents,
administrators tried to reassure
parents that at no time did the
14-year-old threaten students or staff.

look into how a Lynchburg man died
while in police custody last weekend.

Sunday 46-year-old Clarence Beard Junior
died when he allegedly resisted arrest
and police were forced to pepper spray
him early Sunday morning.

An autopsy suggested Beard may
have died from heart disease.

His fiancee says Beard was in good
health and would never have assaulted
the police.

Rumors of police brutality
prompted minority leaders and city
manager Kim Payne to ask for an outside
investigation.

investigation of a Blacksburg man

accused of helping a murder suspect
escape custody.

August 26-year-old Michael Morva is
accused of conspiring with his brother,
William Morva.

William got away from a deputy
last month and sparked a two day man
hunt.

He's accused of killing a
hospital guard and a sheriff's deputy.

According to a warrant, police
searched Michael Morva's home this
month on Tom's Creek Road.

Investigators say William mailed
Michael letters, cards and other forms
of writing.

Police believe the letters could
show how Michael may have helped his
brother escape.

Police did NOT find the letters
in the apartment.

The same line of strong storms
that came through our area Thursday,
spawned a tornado in Maryland!

VO NAT The National Weather Service has
confirmed that a tornado touched down
in Severna Park, Maryland late
Thursday. Authorities say it cut a
two-mile path on the ground, and was on
the ground nearly ten minutes!

Aerials in Severna Park showed
the twisted and shredded trees left in
the wake of the tornado's path. Some of
the trees were sheared off at the top,
others had twisted and torn trunks.

Officials say falling trees
severely damaged 33 homes, at least 13
of them damaged so badly, the residents
have to move out.

race between U-S Senator George Allen
and Democrat Jim Webb is now tied.

received the support of 43-percent of
the respondents. Twelve percent were
undecided and two percent backed
independent candidate Gail Parker.

The results are much different than
just two months. In that poll Allen led

difficult for Senator Allen. He's been
battling claims of racial
insensitivity.

At least twelve people were killed
and dozens injured in a suicide bomb
attack at security checkpoint outside
the Interior Ministry in Afghanistan's
capital.

effect in Baghdad.

No vehicles or pedestrians are being
allowed on the streets. And Police have
orders to shoot or arrest who doesn't
comply.

This is only the second time this
year such drastic measures have been

Iraq's cabinet imposed the restrictions
which last until Sunday. Officials are
not releasing the reason for the

A mortgage company called
NattyMac had offered to pay for the
space for a meeting Tuesday night.
