will now patrol the border along with

Company plant in Chesterfield County
have tested positive for the man-made
chemical P-F-O-A.

Some studies show P-F-O-A can
cause liver, developmental and
reproductive problems in laboratory
animals.

Last year, DuPont agreed to pay a
16-point-five

million-dollar penalty for allegedly
withholding information about the
potential health and environmental
risks posed by P-F-O-A after the
chemical was found in the blood of
workers at a West Virginia plant.

The chemical has also turned up

in the blood of workers in a North
Carolina plant.

caregiver has been injured after a home
exploded in Grayson County yesterday.

It happened just after in the
Fries (Frees) area.

The body of 76-year-old Evelyn
Ward was recovered at about 4 a-m.

The other woman, Mildred Piner,
the caretaker was taken to the hospital
with second and third degree burns over
half of her body.

Fire officials say the cause was
a propane leak that ignited.

New changes are coming to
Louisiana following the damage left
behind after Hurricane Katrina.

VO NAT Voters in Louisiana approved
consolidating the New Orleans area's
levee boards.

The boards were criticized after
Hurricane Katrina for badly lacking
technical knowledge. Members get
appointed by the governor and need no
expertise in flood protection.

The constitutional amendment,
passing with nearly 80 percent of the
vote, will combine ten southeast
Louisiana boards into two.

Members will also be required to
have expertise in engineering, geology
and hydrology.

NEW ORLEANS!

A famous restaurant there is
preparing to roll out its first jazz
brunch since Hurricane Katrina.

Commander's Palace is scheduled
to slide back into life as the Big Easy
slowly regains its cultural balance.

The award-winning restaurant
plans to reopen today after 13 months
for a jazz brunch.

About half of the area's 3,400
pre-Katrina restaurants are still
closed.

It's heartbreaking especially when you
know it is preventable. Crashes aren't
accidents

to educate young drivers and to get the
word out that fatal teen crashes are on
the rise in Southwest Virginia. In
fact, 10 teens were killed in a 3 week
period between August to September of
this year. These facts come as an
alarm to many parents.

I'm concerned for their safety and want
to make sure that they are aware of the
some of the things that are out there
that could cause them to have an
accident.

OQ= Lisa Mansfield brought her 16-year old

son here for traffic safety day. She
hopes these demonstrations help drive
home the message that driving is
serious business.

While experts are here warning teens of
common mistakes before they get behind
the wheel, such as veering off the road
and overcorrecting. They say there are
usually factors that trigger those kind
of fatal errors.

And that is happening usually because
of 2 reasons, drivers distractions, be
it too many passengers in the car, cell
phone, radio, looking for that CD or
what have you. Or too fast.

statistics show otherwise. He fears
that if more is not done to work with
teen drivers, then the numbers will

since a storm ripped the roof off the
museum in downtown Roanoke.

The museum has re-opened, but a
1/4 of the roof has still not been
fixed.

Now, the museum has had to hire a
lawyer because of a dispute with the
insurance company.

worse for the motorists who were
driving underneath an overpass when it
collapsed yesterday.

Officials believe at least two
vehicles were crushed.

Drivers who barely missed it -- say
the overpass fell like a house of
cards.

Five people were taken to the
hospital.. three of them are in
critical condition.

Officials are still trying to secure
the site before they reach those
trapped underneath the rubble. They are
concerned that moving the wreckage
could cause more the of the overpass to
collapse. No word yet on what caused
the collapse.

the passengers on board a jetliner that
crashed in the Amazon jungle survived.

Authorities say the jungle is so
thick where the plane was spotted that
rescue crews will have to be lowered
from helicopters by rope to reach it.

The plane disappeared shortly after
clipping a smaller plane. That plane
was able to make an emergency landing.

155 people were on board the Gol
airlines jet when it crashed including
a New York Times journalist.

Dukes football game, the institute
dedicated the newly renovated stadium
to P. Wesley Foster.

He graduated in 1956 and donated
a generous portion of money to the
renovation project.

The cost of that project totaled
nearly 15 million dollars.
