this afternoon---- Salem police were
called and the school was locked down
as a precatuion.
The principal says schools have

And then Monday, a gunman kills

Amish schoolhouse in Pennsylvania.

Saint Augustine, Florida spotted his
car and gave chase.
They opened fire when the
suspect drove toward them while holding
a gun.

The body of a missing U-V-A
student, 22-year-old Elizabeth Hafter,
was found Sunday near one of Ashby's

shopping center in Lynchburg won
approval from City Council this
morning.

acres of land between Lakeside Drive
and the Lynchburg Expressway for the
Lakeside Centre project.
Plans call for a mixture of
retail, a grocery store, movie theater
and a hotel.
City leaders estimate it could end
up bringing in close to nine million
dollars in tax revenue every year.
The project will also displace 64
tenants of two mobile- home parks on
the land.
They'll be compensated for moving
expenses and given six-months notice
before they have to leave.

the fighting for a while.

These marketing students have
been busy outside of
class....collecting all of these.
The drive for soccer balls
started a couple of weeks ago.
A U-S soldier stationed in Iraq
who has ties to the school asked for
about a dozen of the balls for older
Iraqi children.
But he will be getting more than
he requested.

buy additional soccer balls.
They'va also asked anyone
donating balls to not send red, white
and blue soccer balls or ones with
american flags on them.
They were told those would
automaticlly target the Iraqi children
for potential terrorist attacks.

GRAPHIC=MARTINSVILLE For years race fans in Virginia
have been fretting over the possibility
of Martinsville losing one of its Cup
race.
Thankfully, both of those are
safe, but this afternoon
GRAPHIC=BUSCH NASCAR did take the Busch race
away from Martinsville after just a one
year return to the half mile long
track.

July 20th The Busch series returned to
:00 Martinsville this July after a 12 year
absence at the track.
But NASCAR CEO Brian France has
decided to move the race to Montreal,
Canada.
The Busch series will race next
August on a two point seven mile long
road course that is normally reserved
for the Formula One series.
This means NASCAR now has Busch
events in Mexico and Canada.
