year contract which Chicago declined to
renew.
Meanwhile the man who replaced
Baker in San Francisco, Felipe Alou was
let go by that team yesterday.
He took the Giants to the
playoffs in 2003, but has had two
consecutive losing seasons.

Fork Union vs. VT Jayvee Team Tech's J-V team took on Fork
:00 Union at Lane Stadium.
Quarterback Matt Finnegan had an
up-and-down day, threw a couple of
picks, and completed less than half his
passes.
One he did complete, comes after
he avoids the rush and his receiver,
Justin Born, makes a nice catch to set
up the first Touchdown of the game.
Then in the second quarter -
Finnegan finds Brandon Dillard who
shows his speed.
That will take him 63 yards all
the way to Pay-dirt for the second
score of the day for the Hokies.

14 Something that Coach Beamer
Virginia Tech didn't want to see, was Jahre Cheeseman
27 getting hurt in the game.
But something he DID like to see
was Kenny Lewis from Danville carrrying
9 times for 30 yards as Tech wins it
27-to-14.

And there's plenty to see - the
state of the art museum began in 1972,
but moved into its new setting in 2005.
The 35 thousand square foot shrine
features nine massive exhibit areas
that showcase over 200 athletes in 20
different sports including an ever
growing
number from southwest virginia.

The Wood Brothers - Glen and
Leonard - also were inducted into the
hall this year.
Thursday the likes of Dell Curry
- his former coach Charlie Moir and
many more hall of famers will be at
Hanging Rock along with quite likely
some future hall of famers like
Virginia Amateur king Keith Decker.

All of the action gets started at
Hanging Rock Thursday morning with
registration at 11:30 and the shotgun
start at 12:30. If you would like more
information on how you can still get
into the tournament or how your

the event - contact either Charlie Moir
or Billy McBride at Hanging Rock.
The public is invited to come out on
Thursday afternoon and watch the hall
of famers in action.
