Roanoke city jail Monday night.

August 22 The brother of suspected cop killer
William Morva says two men punched and
kicked him until he was unconscious.
In a written complaint, Morva says he
was bleeding profusely from head and
neck injuries.
The city jail confirms Morva was taken
to the hospital for treatment, though
"he did not sustain any
life-threatening injuries," according
to Sheriff's Department Spokeswoman
Patricia Johnson.
Morva is in the Roanoke jail, accused
of conspiring to help his brother
escape.

Attorney Brad Finch is being asked to
investigate himself a month before
election day.

board meeting his opponent, Dennis
Nagel, questioned the date Finch bought
and reported campaign T-shirts.
The board forwarded Nagel's
concerns to the Commonwealth's
Attorney's office.
Finch says the shirts were
delivered on July first, and that he
paid for them later in the month.
That's reported on his campaign
expenditures list.
Finch was appointed
Commonwealth's Attorney and is now
running for the job in a special
election.
Democrat Dennis Nagel is also
running for the office.

(END SOT) It's been nearly three-months since
Victory Stadium was demolished, but
according to a News7 Survey U-S-A poll
- people would like to see a proposed
amphitheater take its place.
Out of 500-people polled, 41% of them
said the site on Reserve Avenue would
be a good spot for an amphitheater.
Running a close second with 24% was the
Orange Avenue site near the Civic
Center.
Elmwood Park downtown came in third
with 15%. While Explore Park in
Roanoke County rounded out the pack
with seven-percent.
Four-percent of those polled said
another site might be better.
While seven-percent didn't want an
amphitheater at all.

EVENT=HEALTHCHECK 7 BANNER been hospitalized with meningitis.
The college says the student went
to the campus clinic yesterday and was
then hospitalized.
Sweet Briar has not detemined the
source or type of infection. More
information may be available in a day
or two.
In the meantime, the college is
trying to find those who were in close
contact with the individual... to treat
them with antibiotics.
The school in Amherst County is
also gathering information on other
students who may have come to the
clinic with less severe symptoms, and
referring them for further evaluation.

damaged it.

It was considered suspicious, but

The century old structure

sideline.
The April 18th aneursym kept him
in the Duke Medical center for 7 weeks
and forced him to undergo extensive
physical therapy - but to talk with the
73 year old ACC legend, you'd never
know he'd ever been sick.

The 86 team rallied around Dooley
while his messy departure from the
university unfolded right before their
eyes. It ever there was a team that
took on its coach's personality - this
was it.

squad will forever be remembered for
Pulaski's Chris Kinzer - and his game
winning field goal against NC State as
