Danville essentially came to a
screeching halt after 22 hundred
workers walked off the job and on to
the picket line.

About ten workers remain on the
picket line and expect to stay through
out the night.

At issue are proposed plant
closings and cuts in retiree benefits.

The current contract expired in
July but the union agreed with Goodyear
to keep negotiating. This week the
union notified the company it planned
to strike if an agreement wasn't
reached.

So around one o'clock this
afternoon workers in Danville and 11
other plants nationwide walked off the

job.

Roanoke County apartment fire that sent
two people to the hospital....

The 71 year old victim was taken to
the hospital but later died from severe
burns all over her body...Her son who
was also inside the apartment was
treated for smoke inahlation.

The fire broke out late this
afternoon at Cinnamon Ridge Complex on
Overland Drive.

Fire crews say the woman was fixing
Christmas presents when the fire
started.

The cause is still under
investigation but the fire marshall has
determined the fire originated in the
upstairs back bedroom.

suicide as police stormed the school
house.

The Amish say they are turning

Lanham was shot in the thigh last night
around 11:30.

Police responded to a call
on Stratford Park Drive and found

Lanham. He told police he had a gun
and was shot when he reportedly lunged
at officers.

The chief says a preliminary

accordingly and other issues were at
play.

Several hundred thousand dollars worth
of gold, silver and jewelry found it's
way to Danville.

It remained there a couple of days,
then continued south.

Virginia Tech Professor William Davis
says Confederate soldiers would have
looted the train when it reached the
Savannah River, if Confederate
Secretary of War John C. Breckinridge
hadn't created a payroll for the
troops.

HE DIDN'T WANT THE LAST ACT OF THESE
MEN TO BE A DISHONORABLE ONE BY LOOTING
THE CONFEDERATE TREASURY.

HE TOOK IT UPON HIMSELF TO ORDER THE
DISBURSEMENT OF THIS MONEY, $26.25.

Todd Hall says he's found a document
that proves the treasure never left
Danville, that it's buried in Green
Hill cemetery.

...only, the city won't let him dig.

THE DIG. But Basically the city
doesn't want to hear about it? RIGHT.

Before you head over to Green Hill

Tori Spelling and her husband, Dean
McDermott are expecting their first
child.

Spelling and McDermott met last
year while filming the TV movie "Mind
Over Murder".

The baby is due in early spring.

This will be Spelling's first
