Heritage vs. Amherst Co. The field turf at Amherst was :00 nice and dry and definitely conducive
to the Lancers' speed.

On the Lancers' first drive Peter
Rose will drop back and throw a jump
ball into double coverage and Derek
McCoy will go up and get the jump ball
and come down with it at Heritage one.

Rose would then go conservative
and dive in for the TD. It's
8-to-nothing after the 2 point
conversion.

On Amherst's next drive, from the
Heritage 25 - will call his own number
and sweep to the left side carrying it
down to the two yard line on the
keeper.

Poe would then finish off the
drive with the short run. Amherst

takes a 16-to-nothing lead after the
successful conversion.

It's now 24-to-nothing in the
second and here comes Amherst again.
From the Heritage 40 - Rose will hit
Poe on another swing pass down the
right side.
*CG ffefinal Heritage Poe finished with 158 yard 0 rushing, three touchdown, and 8 tackles Amherst Co. on defense.

Alleghany vs. Hidden Valley The field conditions were so
:00 rough that the homecoming court didn't
even make it out onto the field instead
Meghan Neel and Stephen Allen took
their bows in the stand.

We pick this one up in the third
with the Titans in control - as Brian
Asquith hands off to David Turner, who
gobbles up yards, dragging tacklers
into scoring position.

Alex Wray, the A-train would then
sweep around the left end and into the
endzone for the touchdown. The Titans
at that point take a 33-to-nothing lead
on the Mountaineers.

Alleghany would try to do
something positive as Brandon Ross
hands off to Montiro Johnson, and he
busts one up the middle for 32 yards on
the stiff arm using, tackle breaking
run that is good for 33 yards.

But this one was all Hidden

ball on the carry off the right end and
he will pick up 13 yards and a Titans'
first down.
*CG ffefinal Alleghany The Titans defense as it has all 0 season would play stout - Nelson Hidden Valley Musselman - playing with a broken wrist 33 - will pick off the pass on the near

*CG ffeloc Forest
Liberty vs. Jefferson Forest We pick this one up in the third :00 with Forest clinging to a three point
lead.

Liberty is looking to turn that
around as Julian Poindexter hands off
to Lavarta Tanner, and he will dance

his way to the house for the 20 yard
touchdown as Liberty goes on top 18 to
15 in the third.

On their next possession the
Minutemen will look for some more as
Zach Webb celebrates his return to the
lineup by slipping through the defense
on a 55 yard gallop through the mud.
Webb is going all the way for the score
and Liberty is now on top 26-to-15
heading to the fourth.

Forest could have mailed it in at
that point, but Will Hon Barrier leads
the comeback with the pass to Daniel
Bryant for a 10 yard touchdown. The
Cavs cut the lead to 26-to-23 on that
play.

Liberty and Poindexter fake the
handoff this time, and instead gives it
to Webb, and Zach will score again as
the MInutemen appear to sew this thing
up with 32-to-23 lead midway throught
the fourth.

But Forest would score 13
unanswered points to close out the
night. Ryan Brown takes the ball and he

Northside vs. Blacksburg The school held a canned food :00 drive tonight as fans got a discounted

We pick it up in the third with
Blacksburg on top 14-to-6 in a
surprisingly tight game.

Trey Gresh will try to shovel the

ball back to Latrell Keys, but the two
just can't connect. The ball is loose
and its is scooped up by Kyle Rucker
who sets the tables for the Northside
offense with the turnover.

Northside with the ball on a
second and goal, and Brady Craft gives
it to Rucker and jumps in the endzone
for the score and look out the Vikings
are right back in this thing cutting
the score to 14-to-12 after the missed
two point conversion.

Now in the third, Gresh will
attempt to get some insurance and he
will hook up with Greg Keys for 23
yards and a big first down for the
Bruins.

Now in the fourth, Blacksburg
would have to settle for three, and
Caleb Violette hits a 32 yard field
goal to make it 17-to-12 Bruins.

But it still wasn't over.

With less than two minutes go -
Northside has the ball on the

OQ=Friday Football Extra < (END SOT) times for 173 yards and two touchdowns

against Northside, helping Hidden
Valley to a 26 to 6 win over the
Vikings. Not only did the Titans stay
unbeaten, they did it against former
Hidden Valley assistant coach turned
Northside head man Burt Torrence.

DAVID TURNER/FFE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:

J.R. EDWARDS/HIDDEN VALLEY HEAD COACH:

Turner is but 5-10, 160 pounds, but
he's put up much bigger numbers this
season, eclipsing the 100 yard rushing
mark in each of the first four games.
Only a sophomore, he's been able to
keep things light with his upperclass
teammates.

DAVID:

TRAVIS:

ALEX:

His head coach is quick to point out
that a big part of Turner's success can
be attributed to conditioning, which
means the PRIDE Hill at the end of the
school's practice field.

DAVID:

J.R.:

Turner and the Titans have plenty of
hills left to climb. The meat of the

River Ridge District schedule is just
ahead. In Roanoke County, Travis
Wells, Friday Football Extra.>>
