File Tape On Wednesday, the Commonwealth
Transportation Board will meet at the
Hotel Roanoke to pick a plan to fix the
interstate.
One of the options is to scrap the
Star Solutions idea and instead add
strategic truck climbing lanes as well
as improving safety at some
interchanges-- including one in
Roanoke.
V-DOT realizes not everyone can
make the meeting in person, so the
state is offering an alternative.

Battery Park neighborhood, and it
doesn't appear likely to end soon.

weekend causing scattered flooding and
evacuations.
Streets are flooded, trees are
down and power is out after a storm
stalled over Virginia, drenching
portions of the state.
Streets looked more like ponds as
drivers tried to make their way through
the standing water.
A Department of Public Works
spokeswoman says the best estimate the
city can give... is that it will be a
year to 18 months before the
flood-ravaged area will be fixed.

close Senate race, news today that
Virginia Senator George Allen never
told Congress about stock options he
acquired as a board member of a high
tech company.
Allen also asked the Army to HELP
another company that gave him similar
stock options.
The Virginia Republican joined
three corporate firms after leaving the
governor's office in 1998, all
high-tech businesses he had helped as
Governor.
Congressional rules require
senators to disclose all deferred
compensation, such as stock options.
Allen says the stock options were
worthless and he believed he didn't
have to report them.

firefighter jumped into action. A few
days later, News-7 was there for the
emotional thank-you from the family he
saved. And a viewer from Rocky Mount
noticed.
"I watched the videos and the one about
Tommy Aldrich and the family brought
chills to me," Carolyn Anderson wrote.
"It was the most touching and heroic
thing and touched my heart so much.
Your station did a great job on
reporting this coverage."
The 22-hundred striking Goodyear
workers in Danville aren't getting much
sympathy from one viewer in Hot
Springs.
"I think these union people are nuts,"
John Bogan said. "They want to know why
jobs are going to Mexico. They are not
getting enough of everything. Unions
are tearing this country apart."

NBC Sports Dale Earnhardt, Junior went a lap

to a flat left front tire, but Junior
would get his lap back and be a factor.
With just 50 laps to go the

Mears got turned around at close to 200
miles an hour. The melee involved 10
cars including those of three Chasers,
Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick and Denny
Hamlin.
It was on again just 18 laps from

Remember Junior. He got his lap

the A-L-S Association, a non-profit
organization commited to finding a cure
to Lou Gehrig's Disease.
The agency is funded solely by
donations and all their services are
