unit are headed to Kosovo on a
peacekeeping mission...

But not before they return to
western Virginia for a brief visit with
their families.

August Soldiers from the 116th Infantry
have been training for the last two
months at Camp Atterbury, Indiana.

They expect to serve in Kosovo
for a year.

Late last night more than
75-soldiers returned by bus, making
stops in Lexington and Salem.

The Military Family Support
Center chartered the buses, and local
businesses are helping to defray the
cost.

The soldiers will return to Camp
Atterbury next weekend and head to
Kosovo soon after.

prominent Russian journalist was killed
in Moscow.

A journalist known for her
critical coverage of the war in
Chechnya has been found dead in Moscow.

Authorities say the body of the
journalist Anna Politkovskaya
pol-lit-kov-ska-ya was found in an
elevator in a Moscow apartment
building.

The Interfax news agency reports
she was found with at least one gunshot
wound, and several bullets were found
nearby.

One of Russia's most respected
journalists, she was known as a
tireless investigative reporter.

The prosecutor's office says
they're investigating her death as a
possible murder.

Senator George Allen and his Democratic
challenger Jim Webb.

And there's now a month to go
before the election.

A Gallup Poll released yesterday
shows that 48 percent of those surveyed
support Allen while 45-percent support

fraternity house at Virginia Tech, Zeta
Psi is on the road to recovery.

it spread through the house last
October.

Investigators say the fire
started on a couch on the front porch
at around 1:45 in the morning.

Everyone escaped unharmed.

The Blacksburg Police Department
is still investigating the fire as an
arson.

It was rainy around here
yesterday, but there was wetter weather
just to our east!

VO NAT Streets are flooded, trees are
down and power is out after a stormy
weather near the Richmond area.

Streets looked more like ponds as

drivers tried to make their way through
the standing water.

Several inches of rain fell
Friday and Saturday, causing scattered
flooding and evacuations.

More than forty families are now
in a shelter after their apartment
complex in Richmond's Battery Park was
evacuated.

A county wide state of emergency
was issued for Sussex County.

more than 20 years ago as a protest.

turned out along Wiley Drive for the
Star City Striders Women's 5K Run and
Walk yesterday.

The event was established in the
early 80s to protest the absence of a
women's marathon and other distance
races at the Olympics.
