10 KMC CBS-North Korea --- livegene News 7 Mornin' 4058 --
GRAPHIC=Mornin' There are reports this morning that

North Korea has performed a nuclear
weapons test for the first time.

The U- S is NOT confirming the test,
but the White House says if there was
one, it would be considered a
"provocative act."

This comes a week after North Korea
threatened nuclear testing to deter a
possible U- S invasion.

the test.

Condemnation came quickly.. South Korea
suspended aid shipments and raised its
military s alert level.. Japan set up a
response task force.. even China urged
a return to disarmament talks.

(John Howard, Australian Prime
Minister)

HOWARD: 2:41:21 North Korea is very
gravely mistaken if she thinks that a
nuclear test will improve that
country's bargaining position,

(GFX)

Overnight White House spokesman Tony
Snow said North Korea s test would
constitute a provocative act in
defiance of the will of the

international community.

He called for the U-N to take immediate
action. The security council is
expected to meet today.. with the U-S
pushing for sanctions. Here s what
ambassador John Bolton said just last
Friday.

Lettuce, grown in the same California

has been recalled over concerns of
possible contamination.

So far though, there are no reports of
anyone getting sick.

The lettuce was sold in seven Western

The scare comes less than a week after
the Food and Drug Administration lifted
the warning on fresh grown spinach.

Women who are concerned about thinning
bones may want to cut back on the
amount of soda they drink.

Researchers at Tufts University have
made a possible link between cola and
osteoporosis.

The study found that older women who
drink a lot of cola tend to have lower
bone mineral density in their hips.

The scientists say the phosphoric acid
in soda could be to blame, especially
in combination with a diet low in
calcium.

(wipevo)

Getting your kids moving might not
prevent childhood obesity, but it will
pay off.

That s according to a study of more

Researchers found an improvement in

for children who added three
thirty-minute sessions of activity to
their weekly routines.

The extra attention to fitness in young
children can also help establish a
