discussed were recent controversial
allegations aimed at both candidates.
Allen denied having used racial
slurs in the past. Webb said his
opinions had changed since a 1979
magazine article in which he argued
that women are not fit to command men
in battle.

There were also heated exchanges
centering on taxes and foreign policy.

Webb called for a "diplomatic
solution" to the war in Iraq while
Allen stuck by his support of President
Bush's strategy

complex.

The civic center will be located in
the city of Martinsville, the soccer
complex in Henry County.

The hope is both projects will be a
big draw for the area.

An ecomonic feasibility study shows
the facilities could create 72 new
permanent jobs and generate nearly 7
