10 KMC Debate-VO 1 vo Campaign 2006 4806 --
GRAPHIC=Campaign 2006 Senator George Allen and

Democratic candidate Jim Webb squared
off in their final televised debate
last night in Richmond.

ENG#=1 VO-NAT

VO-NAT Some of the biggest issues

discussed were recent controversial
allegations aimed at both candidates.

Allen denied having used racial
slurs in the past.

Webb said his opinions had
changed since a 19-79 magazine article,
in which he argued that women are not
fit to command men in battle.

There were also heated exchanges
centering on taxes and foreign policy.

Webb called for a "diplomatic
solution" to the war in Iraq, while
Allen stuck by his support of President
Bush's strategy

Behind the shroud of a secret state ..

09:57:46 (SUPER: Pak Gil Yon, North

Korean Ambassador to the United

Nations)

"I'm very much proud of our scientists
and researchers who have

conducted such a very, very successful
nuclear, underground test."

North Korea announced the news to the
world, but experts say proving the

test was successful could take days, if
not weeks away.

While the world is left to wonder ...
the U-N Security Council refused

to wait .. calling for tough sanctions.

09:59:10 (bush)

"Once again North Korea has defied the
will of the international

community, and the international
community will respond."

Even China, a country often aligned
with it's communist neighbor, called

the test a (quote) "brazen" act.

And along the China-North Korean
border, the Chinese military has

cancelled leave for all troops. The
testing site ... too close for

comfort.

The explosion registered on seismic
monitoring stations around the

world. It sent out shock waves just as
Kim Jong Il likely intended.

One of the few people who has actually
met North Korea's leader says his

threats of atomic capability should be
taken very seriously.

16:35:27 (SUPER: Ambassador Wendy
Sherman, Former U.S. Assistant

Secretary of State)

"he is smart, he is wiley, he is
supported by a million man army that

has many thousand rounds of artillery,
so he has been able to deal with

the cards he has and play that hand
pretty well."

Now the Security Council plans it's
next move.

Today the Council is looking at a
U.S.-backed draft resolution .. that

includes international inspections of
all cargo moving in and out of

allegations aimed at both candidates.
Allen denied having used racial
slurs in the past. Webb said his
opinions had changed since a 1979

that women are not fit to command men
in battle.

There were also heated exchanges
centering on taxes and foreign policy.

Webb called for a "diplomatic

Behind the shroud of a secret state ..
claims that North Korea carried

09:57:46 (SUPER: Pak Gil Yon, North
Korean Ambassador to the United

Nations)

"I'm very much proud of our scientists
and researchers who have

conducted such a very, very successful
nuclear, underground test."

North Korea announced the news to the
world, but experts say proving the

test was successful could take days, if
not weeks away.

While the world is left to wonder ...
the U-N Security Council refused

to wait .. calling for tough sanctions.

09:59:10 (bush)

"Once again North Korea has defied the
will of the international

community, and the international
community will respond."

Even China, a country often aligned
with it's communist neighbor, called

the test a (quote) "brazen" act.

And along the China-North Korean
border, the Chinese military has

cancelled leave for all troops. The

testing site ... too close for

comfort.

(grfx)

The explosion registered on seismic
monitoring stations around the

world. It sent out shock waves just as
Kim Jong Il likely intended.

One of the few people who has actually
met North Korea's leader says his

threats of atomic capability should be
taken very seriously.

16:35:27 (SUPER: Ambassador Wendy
Sherman, Former U.S. Assistant

Secretary of State)

"he is smart, he is wiley, he is
supported by a million man army that

has many thousand rounds of artillery,
so he has been able to deal with

the cards he has and play that hand
pretty well."

Now the Security Council plans it's
next move.

Today the Council is looking at a
U.S.-backed draft resolution .. that

includes international inspections of
all cargo moving in and out of
