improve access for Virginians without
insurance and encourage healthier
lifestyles by preventing bad health
habits like smoking and physical
inactivity.

Since Virginians over the age of
85 is the state's fastest growing
population, long term care is another
concern- especially since the state
Medicaid program pays for two- thirds
of all nursing home care in Virginia...
a practice the system can't handle
forever.

There's already a shortage of
nurses and specialty doctors in
Virginia, a problem that will only
continue to grow with an aging

population.

Kaine has asked the commission to
come up with ways to train more
professionals.... he'd also like to
make it easier for citizens to
comparison- shop for prescription
drugs.

short-term improvements to Interstate
81.

approved a resolution that calls for
truck climbing lanes, the extension of
on and off ramps, guardrail upgrades
and other improvements.

The board also approved a rail
study in partnership with Norfolk

million dollars from the federal
government for improvements that are
expected to cost 500- million... coming

Gutersloh Gutter-slaw is charged with
first degree murder in the death of 23

year old Radford University student
Lori Pleasants.

Her body was found by friends in
her apartment back in June of 2000.

Gutersloh waived extradition this
morning in a New York courtroom.

His attorney, Richard Barbuto
Bar-byou-to says Gutersloh can't wait
to get back to Virginia because he
wants to fight the charges.

Gingerbread artist Roger Pelcher has
begun work on a gingerbread house he
hopes will land him in the Guinness
Book of World Records.

It's expected to cover nearly 15- Courtesy: thousand square feet, including over
14- thousand pounds of gingerbread and
almost five- thousand pounds of icing.

The completed creation will debut
the day after Thanksgiving, with all
proceeds going to charity.
