a suspended Northside High School
student today, a teen carrying a loaded
handgun near school property.

File Tape Police will not say whether they
believe the 16-year-old boy intended to
harm any students, faculty or
administrators.

Responding to a citizen's call, police
say they stopped the teen about 100
feet from the Northside property line.
He appeared to be heading toward the
school.

The suspect is charged with carrying a
concealed weapon and carrying a firearm
within one thousand feet of school

property.

He in now juvenile detention. Because
of the boy's age, the case is going
through the juvenile system, and his
name is not being released.

South Roanoke, a construction project
to help traffic in front of the CURRENT
store is almost complete.

The new shopping center would be
located just off Route 220 across from
Clearbrook Elementary School.

The Planning Commission has given the
project the green light. The Board of
Supervisors will now weigh in at its
meeting October 24th.

If approved, it's expected the
current Wal-mart at Hunting Hills Plaza
would close.

the stores as well as improve the flow

there's often a backup trying to get

decides to build its first American
plant in Danville, creating hundreds of
new jobs.

an 850-thousand square foot plant in
the Cane Creek Centre industrial area.

Swedwood makes furniture for its
parent company, IKEA (ick-EE-uh), the

Governor Tim Kaine says the
Danville area immediately came to mind
when IKEA indicated it was looking for
a site.

Danville, striking Goodyear workers
have now been on the picket line for
one week, and there's been no change in
their contract status.

the Goodyear ballfield in Danville this
morning to pick up the last of their
regular paychecks.

The Danville workers and
thousands of others across the U-S are
striking over issues of paycuts,

negotiations came to a standstill last
week.

Goodyear says it is still meeting
customer demands by using its salaried
workers to keep the plants running.

The National Transportation
Safety Board has recovered most of the
airplane parts that were scattered in
apartments and on the Manhattan Street
below.

Officials believe the plane's
propellers were turning at the time of
the crash.

They also say the built-in
parachute was "thermally discharged"
but it was still packed following the
impact.

The two people onboard the plane
were killed. One of them was New York
Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle, and the
other was identified today as Tyler
Stanger...a flight instructor.

accused of going on the run and killing
two people now faces THREE capital
murder charges.

Derrick McFarland.

This week a Montgomery County
grand jury indicted Morva on two more
counts.

suit against a Botetourt County woman,
claiming she used its good name to
defraud potential clients of more than
one-point-two million dollars.

According to court papers,

former clients close accounts and roll
them over under the guise they were
starting new accounts with Merrill
Lynch.

That money never made it to the
investment accounts, but instead to HER
bank accounts.

charged with animal cruelty after two
dead puppies and several malnourished
animals were reportedly found at her
home on Ridgecrest Drive.

Just last week, authorities in
Roanoke County searched a storage unit
