truck climbing lanes, the extension of
on and off ramps, guardrail upgrades

The board also approved a rail
study in partnership with Norfolk
Southern... and additional planning for
the long-term future of the highway.

Currently the state has about 140
million dollars from the federal
government for improvements that are
expected to cost 500- million... coming
up with the money will remain an issue.

That's according to Governor Tim

Kaine yesterday, as he gave marching
orders to a new Health Care Reform
Committee.

He wants the group of lawmakers
and doctors to come up with ways to
improve access for the uninsured, and
help prevent bad health- habits like
physical inactivity and smoking.

Improving long- term care will be
one of the biggest challenges.

That's because Virginia's fastest
growing population is over 85- years-
old and there's already a shortage of
nurses and specialty doctors.

The group has a year to come up
with recommendations.
