Transportation Safety Board will be in
Manhattan today, trying to figure out
why a small plane slammed into a

high-rise apartment building.

The crash killed Yankees Pitcher
Cory Lidle and another person on board
the plane.

Authorities say the aircraft issued
a distress call before it hit the
building.

The crash also raised fears of
another terrorist attack.

It took New York City firefighters less

than an hour to put out the

flames.. but N-T-S-B investigators are
just beginning to piece together

why a small plane plowed into this East
Side apartment building.

impact Wednesday afternoon.

On board the plane yankee pitcher cory
lidle and one other person� both

killed in the crash. Lidle is seen at
the controls.. after getting his

pilot�s license earlier this year.

Not long after takeoff his single
engine� 4-seater Cirrus 20 aircraft -

flew north over the east river� when

eyewitnesses say it made a sudden

hard turn and slammed into the belaire
condominium tower.

MAN MOS 16:18:31 it seemed like he was
making a steep turn like he was

out of control

The plane�s engine ended up inside the
apartment building other debris

fell to the ground.

BRIDGE: The bodies of both victims
were found outside.. NTSB

investigators now say the plane did NOT
send a mayday call before crash.

Interviews with witnesses as well as
radar data and the location of the

wreckage will all play into the
investigation.

have found the plane belonging to a
student from Middle Tennessee State
University.

Authorities say the victim was 24-
year- old Jeremy Johnson.

Johnson was from Huntsville, Alabama
and was studying aerospace engineering.

He was the only one aboard the
family- owned plane when it crashed.

The single-engine plane went missing
Monday morning.

Johnson was in Alabama visiting
friends over the weekend.

decision to locate a new V-A outpatient
clinic near Lynchburg.

Plans are to locate it somewhere in
the Lynchburg area and have it open by

athletic logo.

September The school is phasing out the
feathers in response to a recent
N-C-A-A ruling that calls the logo
"hostile and abusive."

That ruling came during a study
of all college logos and nicknames with
native American ties.

Keeping the logo would have
prevented William and Mary from
participating in N-C-A-A tournaments
and other events.

The feathers have been used on
the logo since the 1970's.

The college WILL be allowed to
keep its "Tribe" nickname.

claimed the life of a Tennessee college
student.

short-term improvements to Interstate
81.

approved a resolution that calls for
truck climbing lanes, the extension of
on and off ramps, guardrail upgrades
and other improvements.

The board also approved a rail
study in partnership with Norfolk

Currently the state has about 140
million dollars from the federal
government for improvements that are
expected to cost 500- million... coming
up with the money will remain an issue.

been receiving spam emails asking for
money.

The message is an appeal from a
"supposed" parent of a sick child.

Typically, the emails come from a
foreign country.

We've seen them from Russia and
Nigeria.

The pitch says the family can not
afford the medical treatment the child
needs.

Julie Wheeler of the Better
Business Bureau says anyone who
receives a random email like this and
is thinking about sending money should
ask themselves "how did this person get
my email address?"

killed in the crash. Lidle is seen at

flew north over the east river� when
eyewitnesses say it made a sudden

hard turn and slammed into the belaire
condominium tower.

University.

of short- term safety improvements.

athletic logo.

feathers in response to a recent

"hostile and abusive."

That ruling came during a study
of all college logos and nicknames with

The feathers have been used on
the logo since the 1970's.

The college WILL be allowed to
