way to celebrate school spirit leading
up to the big football game.

But that isn't easy when you
don't have a home.

VO-NAT Just take Roanoke's two high

schools.

Since Victory Stadium no longer
exits, Patrick Henry and William
Fleming High Schools have had to play
all of their football games on the road
this year.

Both schools were determined to
continue the tradition of homecoming
but as Justin McLeod discovered they
had to "tackle" a few problems.

ADMINISTRATORS THE BIGGEST ONE IS THE
COUNTY WANTED TO CHARGE TOO MUCH TO USE
ITS FACILITIES.

we've been told it's cheaper for PH to
play all its home games in Franklin

business last night.

Roanoke firefighters were called

to the S-B-A Caribbean Market on the
38-hundred block of Shenandoah Avenue
at around 7:30.

When they arrived... they found
the building full of smoke.

Parts of Shenandoah Avenue had to
be closed, as fire crews worked the
scene.

It's believed an electric furnace
caused the fire.

are still investigating the intentions
of a teenager who was arrested near
Northside High School on Thursday.

The student, recently suspended,
was carrying a loaded handgun.

Lakes neighborhood after someone
spotted the teenager, and told police
it appeared he was loading the weapon.

Digging out from the devastating
early snow storm is going to be a long
process for Buffalo residents.

VO NAT The snow is wet and heavy,
leaving drivers stuck and bringing down
too many tree limbs to count.

Trees that have been around for a
hundred years or more are destroyed.
The scene in the suburbs looks more
like the aftermath of a tornado than a
snowstorm.

The crashing branches also
brought down live power lines all over
western New York, knocking out power to
hundreds of customers.

VO NAT And that snow near Buffalo has
crippled travel.

You can't get anywhere fast, and
if you planned to fly out of town,
forget it. Even if you got past the
downed trees and power lines, the
airport lost power.

The storm knocked out power which
affected Buffalo Niagara International
Airport. The back-up generators kicked
on. The lights were dim and the

escalators weren't working. Planes were
allowed to land and take off, but there
were delays and cancellations.

injured in airstrikes.

Five of the dead have been identified
as members of Hamas.

More than a dozen Israeli tanks have

missile fired at an Israeli bulldozer.

Fourteen-year-old Julie Wilson
had posted a picture of President Bush,
with a caption across the top "Kill
Bush".

The picture also showed a dagger
stabbing his hand.

Wilson says she was only venting
her frustration with the president at
the time and is not a dangerous person.

Even though she had already
replaced the page after learning in
history class that it could be
considered a federal offense --
secretive service agents still took it
seriously.

They have now placed her on their
checklist.

student from Virginia was found
yesterday.

had been missing for nearly a week. She
disappeared after walking back to her

Her body was recovered along a rural
road near a popular swimming spot.
Police are treating her death as
homicide. They say a 36 year old man
is being questioned in the case.

Gardner-Quinn was from Arlington,
Virginia.

and the Altavista Lifesaving Crew has

led to the county cutting off funding
and insurance to the rescue squad until
further notice.

for a time, then moved to Bristol where
police say she drowned her 6-year-old
