GRAPHIC=Fatal Accident Charges are pending against an

Amherst County man after a fatal crash
in Madison Heights yesterday morning.

State police say 47-year-old
Willie D. Campbell was backing a
flatbed trailer out into traffic on
Route 29 Business around 6:30.

That's when he pulled into the
path of 53-year-old Silas Vernon Smith
of Amherst who was headed southbound.

Smith's pickup truck crashed into
the tractor trailer, killing him
instantly.

Campbell was not hurt in the
crash.
