is facing charges for sexual battery
and assault.

Police say Jeffrey William Hodges
the third was arrested for assaulting
two inmates at the Roanoke County,
Salem Jail.
According to police, Hodges was
working part time as a G-E-D instructor
at the jail when the incidents
happened.
Hodges has taught kindergarten at
South Salem Elementary for the past 11
years.
Salem school officials say
they've never received any complaints
about him.
Nevertheless, the school did send
a letter home all parents explaining
the situation.

GRAPHIC=Fatal Accident One man is dead after a
single-vehicle accident in Wythe County
last night.
At around 9:00 a 2002 Ford F350
pick-up truck carrying a camper trailer
wrecked and overturned when the camper
started to fishtale.
No other vehicles were involved.
The four people in the vehicle
were taken to the hosipital.
One passenger, 27-year-old James
Landon Simmerman of Wytheville later
died at Roanoke Memorial. The other
passengers' injuries are not believed
to be life-threatening.
None of the passengers were
wearing seatbelts.

GRAPHIC=Hold Firefighters responded to a fatal
accident in Giles County yesterday
morning and found one of their own
members.

Their friend, 21 year-old Ronald
Grant Meadows was dead beneath the
wreckage.

Northview Street in the Hungry Hollow
area of Narrows.
State troopers say Meadows ran
off the side of the road, down a 75-
foot embankment and ended up in a
creek...upside down.
Police don't yet know why he ran
off the road or if he was wearing a
seat belt.

Smyth County.
Blue Ridge Aquaculture and
MariCal Incorporated are teaming up to
develop a new method of farming cobia
fish in Saltville.
The initiative is a 30 million
dollar investment and will create 60
jobs.
Blue Ridge is based in
Martinsville and has the largest indoor
tilapia farm in the United States.

showing up in unusually large numbers
in the area.

A lot of people have been calling us
saying they've had hundreds if not
thousands of these lady beetles
swarming around their homes.
According to an entomologist at
Virginia Tech, these bugs become very
active AFTER October 15th especially in
warm temperatures.
What makes them so annoying is the
lady beetles can and will enter your
home.

The Hidden Valley Middle School
library was tranformed into Ellis
Island.
The students were immigrants trying
to come to America and were checked and
questioned by parents- and police who
played immigration officials.
Students quickly found out it
wasn't necessarily fun coming to
America.

Newman yesterday in response to several
senior Democrats announcing they've
changed their position on the marriage
amendment.

others changed their minds after
getting advice from constitutional
experts.
They believe it will hurt the
rights of unmarried people to contract
with one another.
One delegate says he's
disappointed the amendment has become
an issue of faith, and fears Christians
