GRAPHIC=FFE Good evening everybody and

welcome to Friday Football Extra here
on Your Hometown Station.

It is already week number nine
and tonight we have the highlights of a
dozen games for you including the big
battle of the unbeatens between Salem
and Hidden Valley.

That game is coming up in just a
few minutes in our Dr. Pepper Spotlight
segment,
GRAPHIC=M'VILLE/D.RIVER but we begin tonight with a big

milestone in Southside.

There may be nearly 100 thousand
race fans in Martinsville this weekend,
but they big show tonight was at Dan
Greene Stadium not the Speedway.

Racing fan Taylor Edwards - who
has also doubled as the Bulldogs' head
football coach the last 25 years -
hosted the Dan River Wildcats tonight.

*CG ffeloc Martinsville
Dan River vs. Martinsville Edwards, who is retiring at :00 season's end, stepped on the field
tonight knowing that a victory over the

Wildcats would give him 200 wins in his
illustrious career in Henry County.

The Martinsville Band was all set
to play the victory march - too - as
they led Edwards and the team onto the
field.

The Bulldogs moved the opening
kickoff down the field and then Tracy
Hairston handed off fo Tyre Joyce - who
gets around the right end and into the
endzone for the score. It's
6-to-nothing Bulldogs after the 7 yard
scamper.

On the Dogs' next possession from
the Wildcats 35, Hairston takes the
keeper off the right side, and he will
break through the line and roll all the
way down to the one foot line before
he's stopped just short of the goal
line.

On the next play - Hairston
punches in from the one and after the
kick it's a 13-to-nothing game in favor
of the Dogs.

Joyce would later help control
things with this nice run down the
sideline as he gets 21 yards before
he's taken out of bounds.
*CG ffefinal Dan River The Bulldogs get the 35 to 8 win
8 - although Edwards says he never Martinsville imagined he'd hit 200 wins when he 35 first started coaching.

Gretna, which was off is still
second.

The new third place team is
Amherst. The Lancers are on a
collision course with Salem in the
playoffs.

Glenvar drops below Amherst after
barely hanging on.

Blacksburg and William Campbell
move up, while Hidden Valley falls to
number 7.

LCA - Liberty Christian is now 8-and-0
after crushing North Cross 55-to-6.

GRAPHIC= It is now time to hand out the

Player of the Week Honor here on Friday
Football Extra and we head up to
Covington for this week's winner Ryan
Jeter. The Senior Tailback for the
Cougars averaged over 11 yards a carry
last week against James River.

When he's not rumbling over

defenders Jeter enjoy's his school day
in Advanced P.E. and eating some
Chinese Food. No suprise that his
favorite athlete is Jerome Bettis as
Jeter's looks alot like the Bus
sporting the number 36 and he's a big
fan of The Rock's new movie "Gridiron
Gang". Grant Kittelson gets us in tune
with our Player of the Week.

OQ=Friday Football Extra. << The Main Act for Covington this
(END SOT) year is Senior Running Back Ryan Jeter,

who tallied almost 3-hundred yards last
week against James River. But before
the Cougars play on the main stage they
get ready by listening to Pastor Troy's
Vice Versa.

(JETER BITE:)

Whatever Jeter and company
listened to against the Knights worked.
He scored 4 Touchdowns in the game and
the team didn't try and trick their
opponent. Covington didn't throw a
pass the entire game.

(JETER BITE:)

(MORTON BITE:)

As you would expect from a
running back that also plays Defensive
End, Jeter doesn't shy away from
contact

(BITES:)

(STANDUP:Jeter who is a team captain
has his priorities straight on and off
the field. He spends some of his free
time with Andrew Stapleton who was
suppose to be in the running for

Cougars Quarterback spot before tearing
up his Knee.

(JETER BITE:)

It's easy to see why Jeter's
Offensive line is more than willing to
do their best for their Running Back
and Vice Versa. In Covington Grant
