through the night to build fire lines
to contain an arson fire that killed
four firefighters in Southern
California.

Though the fire made no big
charges yesterday, firefighters are
struggling with smoke, darkness and
weather.

While more than 2000 firefighters
battle a massive wildfire in Southern
California, investigators are working
every bit as hard to find the arsonist
responsible for setting the blaze that
left four firefighters dead and a fifth
in grave condition. So far,
authorities are releasing very little
of what they ve uncovered, but
residents say two strange men were seen
in the area where the fire started.

jeopardize this investigation. We need
to keep everything on track, cross our
t s and dot our I s. The reward for
information leading to an arrest is now
at a half million dollars and officials
say there is no shortage of tips.

investigators are going to sort and
comb through each one of those and see
what really pans out.

Thursday, this fire has scorched over
40 thousands acres, and destroyed at
least 10 structures including this home
in the Twin Pines area....but the
fierce Santa Ana winds are now pushing
the flames away from populated areas.
It was the windthat investigators
say.suddenly redirected the blaze that
killed the four firemen. Captain Mark
LOTZ-ZIN-HIZER lived in the small town
of Idyllwild where residents are
devastated.

accused of having a sexual relationship
with a 15-year-old girl was in court
Friday morning.

36-year-old Daniel Farmer pleaded
*NOT* guilty to contributing to the
delinquency of a minor.

The judge found him guilty and
sentenced him to six months in jail,
but he appealed the decision.

His felony charge of sodomy will
be held over to the December grand
jury.

Friday Meanwhile, a Blacksburg man :00 accused of escaping custody and killing
two people was in court yesterday
morning for unrelated charges.

24-year-old William Charles Morva
is already facing THREE capital murder
charges in the death of two officers in
August.

The judge denied a motion
yesterday to continue his trial for
attempted burglary and grand larceny.

Morva's attorney was concerned
about his client's ability to get a
fair trial with extensive media

coverage.

The judge said he would be open
to a request to change the venue.

The clean up continues after the
big snowstorm in Denver.

tree limbs and downed tree branches.

Crews were out at Denver City Park
taking down damaged tree branches to
keep them from breaking and falling on
people.

The city says it will take about two
weeks to get to all of the trees in the
parks.

Homeowners, however, are responsible
for taking care of the branches
themselves that have fallen in their
yards.

terror was confined to D.C. and
Virginia, but now police say snipers
John Allen Muhammed and Lee Boyd Malvo
were responsible for killing a Arizona
golfer.

60-year-old Jerry Taylor was
killed on a Tucson golf course in
March, 2002.

According to police, Malvo now
admits he and Muhammed shot Taylor
while they were in the area visiting
Muhammed's sister.

Malvo was given immunity from the
prosecution in exchange for talking to
the detectives.

He's already serving a life term
in Virginia for the sniper shooting and
is awaiting sentencing in Maryland for
six-killings during October 2002.

Taylor's daughter says she wrote
to Malvo and his confession has brought

her closure.

all ears as Greenfield shared the story
of how he and Ben Cohen started the
company.

The duo launched the business in
the late 1970's after turning a gas
station into an ice cream parlor.

Jerry says their goal was to make
20-thousand dollars a year.

Several years ago, they were
named Small Business persons of the
Year.
