Baghdad is bracing for a reprisal
attack following another deadly

blast...this time in the shiite slum
of Sadr City.

(more natz)

More than 30 people were killed and
dozens injured when a bomb ripped

apart a market where day laborers were
lining up looking for work.

its been a particularly brutal day
across Iraq, with at least 80

people killed or found dead... And an
especially violent month for

American troops.

The U-S military announced a 100th

service member killed in

actionmaking October one of the
deadliest months on record for U.S.

forces.

(natz)

Amid the violence.U-S National
Security Adviser Stephen Hadley has
made

a surprise visit to Baghdad. He met
with the Prime Minister and his

Iraqi counterparts to discuss military
and political coordination.

Hadleys trip while planned for
months.. follows tensions between

the iraqi government and the u.s. over
establishing benchmarks for Iraq

to develop security forces and somehow
control sectarian violence.

That progress will be tested again in
Sadr City after todays bombing.

That area is a stronghold of the rebel
cleric Muqtada al-Sadr and his

Madhi Army Militia. And like they have
in the pastmany expect the

Shiites to follow todays attack with

one of their own.

(Strahan close)

And theres troubling word here in
Washington on the thousands of

weapons given by the us military to
Iraqi security forces. The new

federal report says nearly one in every
25 is missing.

NBC Sports Jeff Gordon had the lead early in :00 the race, but spun out after contact
with Jamie McMurray, before recovering
to finish 6th.

Kasey Kahne tangled with David
Stremme Strem- mee, taking both drivers
out of contention.

Kahne finished 38th and is now 9th

The caution flew again with under
20 laps to go.

Dale Jarrett, Sterling Marlin, and
Mark Martin were all involved in this
mess.
