jmcleod@wdbj7.com It's something the Roanoke College

a deadly carbon monoxide incident this
past summer.
This afternoon, a task force created

findings.

July It was back in July when a carbon
monoxide leak at the Sections Residence
Hall sent more than a hundred people to
the hospital.
One person even died, 91 year old
Walter Vierling of Pearisburg.
Then a little over a month later,
there was another carbon monoxide leak,
this one at a fraternity. Luckily, no
one was injured.
Since that time, the college has
installed carbon monoxide detectors in
most of its buildings and a task force
is now recommending other changes.

By retiring....
Barker says his last show will be
June 7th of 2007.
He jokes that he wants to step
down while he's "still young".
The search for a new host has
been going on for two or three
years...by the time he retires, Barker
will have been on the tube for half a
century and he says he's "enjoyed every
moment".

Two days of tryouts are complete
here in Roanoke. Of the 750 people
that headed downtown Monday evening...
145 made it to the final round which
was held right here at WDBJ7 earlier
today!.....
But that number was wittled down
again after a 50 question test....
And you might recognize one of the
winners....she was the first one to
pass the semi-final round, we actually
talked to her last night and caught up
with her again today!

Creativity run amuck.
Take a look at some of the
designs....
From pump up the jams to a
pumpkin volcano that actually
erupts....employees at the firm held
nothing back.
The winner of the contest will
receive 100 dollars.
And from the looks of these
pumpkins it's going to be a very tough
call.
