fire in Rockbridge County yesterday.

The fire broke out in two
adjoining trailers in the Arnolds
Valley area.
Firefighters got the call
around 3:45 yesterday morning, but the
Glasgow fire chief says there was
little they could do to save the two
people inside.
They've been identified as
Joseph and Shirley Austin.
Firefighters traced the fire
back to a wood stove.

against a Roanoke man, but the
prosecutor says other charges are
coming.

25-year-old Jason Donnell
Roberson robber-son was accused of
firing the fatal shot that killed
22-year-old T.J. Thompson.
Police say during the early
morning hours of May 20th - gunfire
broke out at an unlicensed, after-hours
club on Melrose Avenue.
Thompson was killed and
seven-other people were shot, including
Roberson.
The Commonwealth's Attorney says
we may never know who killed TJ, but
the case is far from over.

who plan to cast absentee ballots.
According to the State Board of
Elections, applications for absentee
ballots have to be in the hands of
local voter registrars by 5 p-m today.
The completed and signed
applications can be delivered in
person, faxed or scanned and sent by
e-mail.
Copies of the application are
available at the registrars' offices or
online at the State Board's Web site.

searcing for three suspects who robbed
a man at gunpoint over the weekend.

It happened Saturday night just after
eleven at the Wachovia drive-up ATM on
Electric Road near Tanglewood Mall.
Police say three suspects forced 21
year old Robert Anderson Crush to
withdraw money by gunpoint.
When the suspects fled, the victim
then followed their vehicle in hopes of
getting a license plate number.

America, but a new report suggests it
may not be one of the safest.

This year, it ranked Roanoke
286th out of 371 communities.

Danville... as the Goodyear plant
brings in temporary workers.

The steelworkers union there has
been on strike since October 5th in a
dispute over job and benefits
protection.
The company placed a newspaper ad
for temporary workers-- picketers say
about twenty cars came into the plant
yesterday morning.
They were greeted with shouts of
"scab!" from the union workers on the
picket line.
Danville police were on hand and
there were no reports of any problems.
Goodyear also announced yesterday
plans to close its plant in Tyler,
Texas.
