their own hands and stopped a suspected
car thief in Vinton.

It happened yesterday evening outside a
Vinton business.

Police say a woman jumped into a
truck at Second and Walnut, and took
off.

The truck's owner and another
person followed in other cars and
called police.

They eventually boxed the truck in,
but the suspected thief jumped into one
of her pursuer's cars.

The truck's owner then jumped
into the open passenger door, and got
the woman to stop until police showed
up.

capacity of convicted killer Percy
Walton.

Goodyear is advertising for
replacement workers to keep production
going while the United Steelworkers
union is on strike.

About twenty cars carrying the new
employees pulled into the gates this
morning .

Each was greeted by about a hundred
picketers yelling and gesturing.

Some of the strikers were warned
by police not to get too close to the
incoming cars, or force them to slow
down as they enter and leave.

About 15-thousand workers at 16
Goodyear plants across North America
have been on strike since October 5th.

assaulting a student inside a Roanoke
school will spend 30 days in jail - on

weekends.

Surveillance video shows Terry Dehart
going after the student in Woodrow
Wilson Middle School last Spring.

The tape shows two students
carrying cafeteria trays, exchanging
words with Dehart as he re-enters the
school.

Dehart had just come from the
office, where he was told his son no
longer attended Woodrow Wilson.

Dehart approaches Terrell Wilson
and knocks the tray out of his hands.

Dehart's "ego and temper got the
best of him," his attorney said.

Judge Joe Clarke ordered Dehart
to serve 30-days in jail on weekends,
starting a week from Friday.

Dehart may also have to pay the
teenager's hospital bill.

A hearing on restitution was is
January 9th.

yesterday.

And as journalism students led
the way on this campaign...they found a
survivor right down the hall.

class.

For the month of October they
choose to raise awareness about breast
cancer through their school newspaper.

Writer Breigh Cupp was on the
hunt for a survivor.

She found one in English teacher
Makala Witten.

decided to show their support with a
"Think Pink Day."

Nearly to the day of her
diagnosis....Witten was amazed by how
many showed up adorned in pink.

Society, there's a one in eight chance
a woman will have invasive breast
cancer sometime during her life.

It's the second leading cause of
cancer death in women.

A mammogram is recommended every
year after the age of 40.

Three of the eight babies made their
public debut yesterday at a local
wildlife sanctuary.

They're between 10 and 12 months old.

The koalas were conceived using new
breeding technology.

It involves mixing sperm with a

special solution that prolongs its
shelf- life.
