A school guard's murder in Tennessee
leads police to a second murder, this
one in southwest Virginia.

spotted a darkened car with Virginia
tags. A short time later, his next
radio call: he had been shot.

The suspect then stole the guard's car
and led police on a wild chase in the
Knoxville area.

Once police stopped the car, they
arrested Carroll Lineberry of Galax,
charging him with killing the school
guard with a 22 caliber gun.


They later discovered the car Lineberry
was driving at the high school belonged
to another man from Galax.

interviewed 453 likely voters between
October 22nd and 29th.


Like many recent polls, the
latest survey suggests the race remains
very close.

VO NAT 45 percent of those who were
surveyed said they plan to vote for
Allen, 42 percent for Webb. And two
percent said they support Independent
candidate Gail Parker.

The poll indicates that a
relatively high percentage of voters,
12 percent, remain undecided.

Of that group twice as many
people were leaning toward Allen than
toward Webb, but the majority said they
were not leaning in any direction.

pulled the spot.

"No broadcaster has ever refused to run
an ad based on content," says W-S-E-T
General Manager Randy Smith, "unless
they want to run afoul of the F-C-C."

that the City of Champions has landed
yet another major championship.

In July of 2008, the national 15

and under AAU baseball tournament will
be in Salem.

As many as 50 teams from all over
the nation are expected for the event.
